DOJ wants the first US Capitol rioter convicted by jury to serve 15 years | CNN Politics

(CNN)  A federal judge on Monday sentenced Guy Reffitt, who brought a gun to the US Capitol during the January 6, 2021, riot and threatened House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to more than seven years in prison, the longest insurrection-related sentence to date.

Reffitt, a recruiter for a right-wing militia known as the Three Percenters, was the first Capitol rioter to go to trial rather than take a plea agreement.

"Mr. Reffitt's reluctance to admit early that his behavior is illegal is concerning," District Judge Dabney Friedrich said before handing down the 87-month sentence.

It appears you've missed the J6 Hearings in its entirety.  But no worries, people that matter have been watching.  The investigations are ongoing, stay tuned.

The investigators really need to get a move on and come to a conclusion , the next elections will begin soon and if Donald gets elected again, it will be back to "We'll prosecute him as soon as he's no longer President" again

Trump isn’t going to be elected again.

The DoJ are getting a move on.

What are those facts that I am missing ?

It is a fact that Donald asked his supporters to remain  peaceful and to keep within the law and not to resort to any violence or anything else that would be unlawful .

The fact that Trump could have called off the coup attempt with a tweet, but didn't ask his mob to leave the Capitol until after it was clear the coup had failed.

Anyone who condones that is putting Trump before country.

Funny how that poster, and many others of his ilk, have been trying to tell us, repeatedly, that this was just a peaceful visit by some sightseers, intent on taking some selfies, grabbing some souvenirs, and lynching the vice president. Oops, slip of the tongue, definitely not the latter.  Now it seems that they were exercising their "constitutional right" to abolish the government and install a new one.  I can't wait for the next chapter of this story, when we'll be told that these people were actually presidentially appointed deputies, sent in to clean up the town, save the nation, and ride off into the sunset with the girl, rather than just presidentially riled up idiots, intent on violence.

Also funny that we are repeatedly told that one of the tenets of the right to bear arms is to be able to defend oneself against a tyrannical government, yet when the very section of society historically having most justification for pointing to such a government, namely Afro-Americans and other ethnic minorities, protests against said government, without even taking the step of bearing arms, those who spout the guns, guns guns mantra are the very same people who condemn said protests and demand the law use force and violence, with help from some gun wielding vigilantes to suppress them.  It would be laughable if it wasn't so funny.

Well, to be fair, Kanchanaburiguy didn't invoke the Constitution but rather the Declaration of Independence. A document which has no legal force and the proposition of which that violence is an acceptable way to alter a government under certain circumstances was not adopted into the Constitution. And as for his claims about what we were taught in school about it, I remember in high school we were taught, among other things, that it was intended as a kind of propaganda piece, albeit a brilliant one, to persuade the world of the justice of the cause. It's obvious that it was so since slavery was legal in all 13 colonies when the document was written and signed.
