Thailand reports third monkeypox case in German tourist in Phuket

A German tourist is being treated at a private hospital in Phuket, with the first lab test producing a positive result for monkeypox, according to Phuket’s Provincial Health Chief Dr. Kusak Kukiattikoon.

 

Reconfirmation of the diagnosis, from the Medical Sciences Department and the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, is pending.

 

Dr. Kusak said that the patient did not have any connection with the first confirmed case, a Nigerian man, who had stayed in Phuket since last October and went to Cambodia late last month having refused treatment in Thailand.

UPDATE: Seven people identified by health officials as high-risk for monkey pox in Phuket after third monkeypox case, a German tourist, confirmed in Phuket

Phuket – According to the Thai health authorities, seven people have been identified as being at high risk for monkeypox in Phuket and are being tested and monitored after the third confirmed monkeypox case, who is a German tourist in Phuket, was announced this morning.

 

The press conference was held in Phuket this afternoon (August 3rd). Dr. Kusak Kukiattikoon, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) told the Phuket Express, “.

Thailand reports third confirmed Monkeypox case who is a German tourist in Phuket

National – Thailand on Wednesday, August 3rd, reported the third confirmed case of Monkeypox which is a German tourist who was expected to have carried the disease from abroad.

 

Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, revealed to the Associated Press this morning that the latest patient was a 25-year-old German national who arrived in Phuket on July 18th. His preliminary results of the disease investigation were believed to have been infected before entering Thailand. The Public Health Ministry is currently in the process of monitoring close contacts and creating a detailed timeline for disease investigation.

 

“The third patient had a fever, swollen lymph nodes, and rashes around the genital area. The symptoms are quite obvious.

No doubt, several states in the US, including California, have declared it a Medical Health Emergency (there are 3,000 cases in the US which has like 345 million people) I think some of the politicians are still drunk with power from the Covid lockdowns and really liked all of the control they had over the masses (like closing the beaches!!).

Monkeypox derives from smallpox and is self regulating. Monkeypox has been around since the 50s/60s. can't see what the fuss is about!
