A toll gate’s roof collapsed due to heavy winds in the Chonburi area, the second recent terrifying collapse in Thailand, but nobody was hurt.

 

The toll gate was situated on the motorway in the Nong Hong subdistrict of Phan Thong district in Chonburi. The collapse happened on Tuesday, August 2nd, reportedly while gusty winds hit.

 

Local media stated that nobody was injured, which was a lot more fortunate than the two victims who lost their lives in the bridge collapse in Samut Sakhon. The truck driver who was about to enter the toll gate told local media that he almost got crushed by the roof if it had fallen a little bit sooner.

who is responsible for all the constructions and the making of it??? Even the new relax building for the MP's is poorly build.. For all the money the spend on these projects a lot diappeared in the pockets, now let them pay for it to repair ....

And that's just a couple of days after that u-turn bridge collapsed in Samut Sakhorn, killing a few. It really makes it clear why Thais just do not enter into any building under renovation or such - they can just see disaster looming. But... for some reason they have no such fear on the roads or when in long abandoned building that could collapse at any moment... Strange people.

I’m thinking the citizens didn’t save anything…..but the officials affiliated with the construction gained plenty!

The Poobahs in charge don't care, they took their cut from the original construction and they'll take their cut again when it's all rebuilt. It's like the drains and cable-burying in Pattaya, they're not done for the public good first and foremost, they're just ways to cycle money out of the public purse and into certain private bank accounts.

If this follows the standard Thai pricing model we should expect higher tolls until the repairs gets paid off ????

The latter perhaps due to the engineering design and erection methods being "short cut" due to "inducements" perhaps ?

Built by immigrants on less than slave labour wage, via construction company trying to cut costs due to a huge profit margin.
