Proposal to extend Thailand tourist visas and visa on arrival to 45 days

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to propose extending the length of stay for tourist visas and visa on arrival (VOA) to a maximum of 45 days.

 

According to TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn, a proposal will be presented to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at a meeting due to be held on August 19.

 

The proposal will call for the period of stay for tourist visas to be extended from the current 30 days to a maximum of 45 days, while the period of stay for visa on arrival extended from 15 days to a maximum of 45 days.

 

The extension would be effective from the date of approval and run through to December 31, 2022.

Doesn’t TAT know that a Tourist Visa already has a 60 day validity? One can only guess that the current Visa Exemption - now 30 days - is what they really mean……,

Well if it's original 45 and then 45 extended that's 90, but if it's 45 and 30 that's 75 or if it's still 30 VE will it be plus 45 or will it be or not be plus 30?

Then again perhaps the OP on here didn't rely on the correct questions being asked so what we get is nothing like the facts that should be reported so we don't really get a clear picture of what is meant by the Thai Government.

Thats a 50% increase. Will all other visas be extended by 50%? I am coming on the 3 month retirement visa if this applies to all I would be allowed to stay for 4.5 months

A Tourist Visa is already 60 days so I expect that is what they really mean... don't see them shortening TV.

Does the 45 day visa free entry qualify for a further 30 day extension or is the Maximum limited to the initial 45 days?

Extending a 15-day Visa on Arrival to 45 days is generous!  "Extending" a 60-day Tourist Visa to 45 days less so!

There is no such thing as a retirement visa.  You have probably got a Non-O or a Non-OA visa which is valid for three months.

 

Provided you can meet all the requirements you can then get an extension for one year based on retirement.

Brazilian citizens receive 90 days so why not make it 90 days . Less tourists arriving so let them stay longer .

The Tourist Authority of Thailand is pressurizing the government to allow most vacationing foreigners to visit Thailand for up to three months without obtaining a visa from their local Thai embassy abroad. Visitors from 64 countries (including Brits, Russians, Australians, Americans and most mainland Europeans) are already visa-exempt. They obtain 30 days free-of-charge on arrival which can be extended for a further month at Thai immigration on payment of 1,900 baht. If the Thai Cabinet, as expected, accepts the proposal, these periods would become 45-plus-45 days for a total of three months.

This would be a positive move that benefits everyone imo.  I would also like to see the 60 day visa changed to 90.
