Its a very simple concept.

closing time is 12am.

Fire started at 1am.

Am sure you can figure it out.

I am sure that you can figure out that both opening and closing time for a club that is not allowed to open is never.

It was legally allowed to open as the restaurant it was licenced for..... but restaurants don't catch fire do they !!

There are different regulations for nightime venues and restaurants for a reason my dear

Indeed, thats why many nigh time venues during covid re-licenced as a restaurant in order to re-open their doors.

I wonder if they have re-licence back to be a night time venue or are they operating illegally ?

One of very few places in the world though as I said. Hardly the point though is it?

Just pointing it out.....????

Only in an emergency would treatment be free for a foreigner. The notion that they'll treat any foreigners chilblains for free is patently false.

That is another subject, mon ami, but any foreigner burned in similar circumstances in the UK would be taken care of immediately, no question....????

Much the same as Thailand.

So sad.

Really, in Thailand I had a detached retina, there was nowhere in Ubon province to fisk it, I had to go on a 500km road trip to a hospital that might be able to fix it, thankfully they did.

In 2002 I had the same in the UK, I was operated on that same night.  ????

So your complaint is the local hospitals were not equipped to treat the condition or they refused to do so ?

what are you doing to yourself to  have a retina detach multiple times ?

Agree, they certainly don't. But they are really cheap. And if you know enough to get to the right place for the job, you get good treatment too. My personal opinion only of course

A few caveats: 1) Smaller things and the big provincial hospital may not be the right place. Often very busy. I've had a few smaller accidents over the years. Sample: Bad service at the big provincial government hospital, got fed up and drove (that hurt...) 20km to a small local government hospital and got 11 stitches and really good service for 200 baht. A private hospital and it would have been 5,000 baht. 2) Few government hospitals are up to treating very severe conditions (note very). I'd say that not even many bigg-ish provincial hospitals can manage 70-80% 3rd degree burns. 3) You need someone to help you (once a day or so) if you're admitted to a government hospital. For the price, I'm Ok with that.

In 31 years in Thailand, speaking more Thai than English most of the time, I have never heard of a government hospital refusing to treat a patient without what I consider to be a valid reason. But I don't expect NHS rules ????

I had a toe that required removal.

As I have health insurance I went to my local private hospital.

After much faffing about (including take my blood pressure) I finally saw a medical professional whom inspected my toe nail, agree'd it needed removal.

I was then escorted to a cashier to make payment before removal, bill total Bt.9,000.

Whilst my insurance covered the cost I felt 9k was taking the <deleted> on a higher level.

I declined and left.

Stopped at a local clinic in my soi, removal done in 10 minutes.... total cost Bt.280, inc free dressing for 7 days.

Personally, I wouldn't want Thailand to be the same as European countries. I'm here because I like the differences.

As I have said on other threads the local clinics and government hospitals are good here, predominately there to help and assist people with their needs whereas the private hospitals are primarily there to exploit and maximise profits wherever possible.

I am not complaining, ol' chap, just putting forward suggestions.. ????

Try to open up your gray cells, perhaps a hospital does not have the expertise for some critical conditions...

Again, try to open up your gray cells, my family on both sides have a history of blindness.

2002 left eye retina detached, I still have a plastic clip in the back of that eye.

2019/20, had 2 eye lens changed, could not see. The first lens change ended up giving me a detached retina in the right eye, a small risk with lens replacement, I was unlucky..

If it wasn't for modern expertise I would be blind now.

2022, fingers crossed all still OK.

Any more questions......?   ????

Happy to use both depending on medical reason.

Clinics are great, quick and well priced for small issues.

Unfortunately despite much of the faux outrage and shirt tearing we all realise this is part of the reality of living in Thailand. The smarter of us prepare and try to deal with this as best we can. Others wait until too late and then decry something they knew to be true all along.

Agreed! Although I would substitute 'European' with 'English speaking Countries'.

Foreigner should have health insurance,  full stop.

To many want to keep the advantages of living in a developing country but seem to think the disadvantages should miraculously disappear.
