webfact
77kaoded Thai Caption: Strict! In the Khao San area 77kaoded reported with a video on BMA officials ensuring that the law was being followed in relation to fire safety at Khao San Road clubs. And bars and dispensaries offering the sale of marijuana were also visited. This after the devastating Mountain B fire earlier this month that killed many people and the legalization of weed in June. A female deputy governor went with her staff and the police to ensure safety at clubs again checking exits were not locked. If things were not perfect she advised how to achieve this. The visit was mounted yesterday evening by Dr Thawida Kamolwech and local officials. Chana Songkhram police chief Pol Col Sanong Saengmanee tagged along. Several media referred to "strictness". The trip included visits to a street stall selling Jack Daniels and ganja and a more salubrious dispensary purveying such items in jars as "Gelato Runts" and "Gorilla Glue". Picture: 77kaoded Dr Thawida told the media she was concerned for the safety of people going out in the area regarding entry and exit points to clubs. She was also checking licences were in place. Mountain B and many others in Thailand didn't bother with that. Picture: 77kaoded She was also concerned with cleanliness and order and was following up on previous visits to make sure that clubs and businesses were putting their act together. One wasn't and a further 11 were ordered closed temporarily to make changes. Despite economic hardship she stressed the need for businesses to be following the law and inspiring confidence to customers - especially foreigners of which there were many. Picture: 77kaoded Their safety in a place unfamiliar to them was paramount, she said. She said that clubs in the area were claustrophobic and exit routes outside were important. Exits from clubs needed to be multiple, not just one. Also on her radar were noise abatement measures and overcrowding. Sasithorn Prasitporn-udom of the Phra Nakhon authority stressed the need for the measures to be lasting: "We can't have two exits this week then next week back to one," she cautioned promising further checks. ASEAN NOW notes that much criticism has been leveled at the Thai authorities for laxity in following up crackdowns in the past. Neither this report or a similar one by Daily News commented about the officials' checks on marijuana selling shops in the area. It was all about club safety. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post connda
In this case I commend them although I'm not sure 'safety inspection" is the job of a cop. They should have qualified fire and engineering safety inspectors. That's a little outside the qualifications of the average BIB. thailand49
In a country where the BIB are the judge and jury why not. Can't enforced liquor sales rules being done close to schools, can't or confused about seat belt laws so they decide to call it New starting 5th of Sept. In the end a big photo op declare it is all clear until the next time.

digger70
Isn't this an Health and safety issue. Aren't the Health and Safety officers periodically (say 6 monthly)suppose to check if everything is in order and Legal. Yea Right you may say ,They can be persuaded with donations . Much like the pedestrian crossings. The red paint is mostly worn off now and the cop must be due for early release soon.

He just "tagged along" apparently , she was the one saving lives, as we'd expect from a DR, There must have been some glaring irregularities if she spotted anything. Just imagine what a qualified H&S guy might have spotted If one of those places went up in flames tonight she's going to look so stupid 4 hours ago, Mr Meeseeks said: What have cannabis dispensaries got to do with nightclubs or the Mountain B fire? That's, the only reason why the gutter press didn't mention it Look at the photo there's an official checking out his next purchase, and you can see his mate in the background saying "no this is the one you want " the press where silenced lol

Bday Prang
"This after the devastating Mountain B fire earlier this month that killed many people and the legalization of weed in June." Maybe its because I'm stoned, but as a native english speaker I'm sure there is something fundamentally incorrect with the structure of that sentence, Its almost as if the last 7 words were added on a whim by somebody else later on

LOL yeah right, like they weren't even needed before the legalisation of that mind bending poison. as people with 10 bottles of chang and gut full of saengsom would never have had a problem forming an orderly cue and calmly walking out would they? I could see that being the basis for a tv game show maybe even using celebrities or better still celebrity couples , two pi$$ heads and two pot heads competing against each other in a series of tests of co-ordination and dexterity, I think I know who my money would be on
