I'm getting someone to send documents air mail, will they need a copy of my passport if I am marked sender?

No.

They see the Original PP and punch it on their computer.

Thanks, however I won't be going. Will the Thai ID of the person who goes be OK if they are not marked as sender?

Yes.

My wife mails my documents a lot of times with me marked as the sender.

 

She presents her Thai ID card to the Thailand Post/Kerry/Flash etc,  never a problem.
