candide Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 4 hours ago, placeholder said: Trump team likely sought to conceal classified docs at Mar-a-Lago, DOJ tells judge The 36-page filing was the department’s most detailed account yet of its evidence of obstruction of justice, raising concerns that Trump and his attorneys sought to mislead investigators about the sincerity and thoroughness of their effort to identify and return highly sensitive records to the government. “The government also developed evidence that government records were likely concealed and removed from the Storage Room and that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government’s investigation,” Justice Department counterintelligence chief Jay Bratt wrote. “That the FBI, in a matter of hours, recovered twice as many documents with classification markings as the ‘diligent search’ that the former President’s counsel and other representatives had weeks to perform calls into serious question the representations made in the June 3 certification and casts doubt on the extent of cooperation in this matter,” he added. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/30/trump-justice-department-filing-warrant-00054319 It seems clear that Trump's attorneys lied. Seems unlikely that they would do that in any way other than at Trump's behest. Full text available here. LosLobo Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Interesting Morning Joe. Oh what a tangled web we weave! Trump should have kept quiet about the Mar-a-lago raid in the first place, instead of trying to win the case with a trial by public opinion. He keeps on digging a bigger hole for himself. Interesting how Trump and his lawyers keep on contradicting each other and each new excuse contradicts the last one. The FBI must be laughing at how Trump and his lawyers keep admitting guilt. The two lawyers Alaina Habba and Christina Bobb may soon find themselves having to recuse themselves from the case as they may soon become star witnesses for the prosecution.
Popular Post ozimoron Posted September 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2022 No, Trump didn’t declassify everything; it’s barred by the Nixon tapes decision The Justice Department’s remarkable filing last night makes it more likely that attorney general Merrick Garland will have to prosecute former president Donald Trump for criminally mishandling national defense information and for conspiring to obstruct the federal investigation. The second branch of the strategy is another stratagem that Trump has used successfully in the past, misstating the governing law, personally and through surrogates. This approach helped him avoid prosecution related to Robert Mueller’s Russian-influence investigation, when Attorney General William Barr relied on a misstatement of the law to exonerate his boss. https://thehill.com/opinion/3622679-no-trump-didnt-declassify-everything-its-barred-by-the-nixon-tapes-decision/ 1 2
Popular Post ballpoint Posted September 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2022 Trump can't help spouting off and shooting himself in the foot. Now openly admitting that he had the top secret SCI documents in his house, where they were stored in cartons, while trying to make a point against the FBI: And one of his attorneys isn't doing much better. While claiming that the pictures released by the FBI don't show how his office normally looks, her denial included the words "anyone who has visited President Trump's office - he has guests frequently there" Trump admits that he had the documents, his attorney admits that the area was open to frequent visitors. The clown show continues. Maybe he's going to plead insanity? 5 1

ozimoron Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 More than half of respondents in a new poll said they think the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s search of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home was appropriate. In the Wall Street Journal poll released on Thursday, 52 percent agreed with the statement that the search was “part of a legal and proper investigation” to determine if Trump wrongfully held classified documents at his Florida residence. Another 41 percent said they viewed the FBI search as part of an “endless witch hunt” against the former president, according to the poll. https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/3623865-most-in-new-poll-say-fbi-search-of-trump-home-was-appropriate/ 1

ThailandRyan Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Wonder if the orange man will wear an orange jumpsuit or a plea will be made where he will accept responsibility and admit the truth........ 1

One thing DT will not cop to is anything that implies his mental or physical abilities are anything short of robust and superior. Vanity will not permit. Anyone recall that goofy doctor from before he got elected? His goons raided the doctor's office and took everything that mentioned him. Pretty obvious he's concealing things. I'm expecting him to skip out, perhaps Vlad will put him up in a dacha in the Caucasus. "Is the jet prepped, Eric?" And who knows, Mrs T may find indictments of her very own for running NFT scams. 1
