Scott Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 An inflatable craft carrying migrants crosses the shipping lane in the English Channel on August 4, 2022 off the coast of Dover, England. London (CNN)A total of 1,295 people arrived in the United Kingdom after crossing the English Channel by boat Monday -- the highest daily total of migrants registered since records began in 2018, according to PA Media. Twenty-seven boats made the journey, according to the UK's Ministry of Defense. As channel crossings continued into Tuesday, around 40 people including young children were rescued and brought ashore in Dover, southern England, by the UK's Border Force. https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/23/europe/uk-english-channel-migrant-crossing-intl/index.html 1 1
Popular Post overherebc Posted August 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 28, 2022 No need to worry. They will be well taken care of using money that pensioners worked all their life for. Maybe those that are facing £4000 a year power bills can spare something for the mainly young fit men who come over the channel in their little boats. 9 1 4
Popular Post proton Posted August 29, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2022 Illegal immigrants, most with no right to even claim asylum being from safe countries escorted in by the RNLI ???? If I wanted the Mrs to settle over there I would have to be earning a lot more than a pension and the visa and settlement process would cost thousands. Maybe she could get on one of these boats and call herself an Albanian? 7

We still have a navy let them do it. This is what the Thai Navy have done in the past- tow them back out to sea and they stopped coming. Put them up in Hotels and give them 40 quid a week and they will not. 3 1

Halfway across the Channel, our Navy would be in French territorial waters, which means an incursion on French territory, a.k.a an act of war if not invited in by the French. You can't do that. 2 1

Were those irregular immigrants given a chance to be granted legal status. They are escaping poverty and seeking a living. Doubt they know enough to risk life and death to scam. 2 1

Do these rules state that they have to apply for asylum FOR that first safe country or WHILE IN that first safe country? So if they are in Turkey, say, but have family / connections in the UK, how can they apply for UK asylum while in Turkey? 1 1
