There'd be a lease for the rented land, leases can be sold on. The part of the building that was illegally added on has been destroyed by the fire, there's nothing to stop the rest from being sold, it's just a construction now, not an illegal business. (with respect) Why not clear the area and establish a memorial garden? Who's going to pay for that? Perhaps the owner of the private land wants to continue doing what he wants to do with it, he wasn't responsible for the fire.

Do you think the courts/judge/legal system should forgo the whole "innocent until proven guilty" mantra and just lock him up and throw away the key ? It's amazing how many posters here do think that! In this case, to prevent absconding, also not unusual in Thailand. Neither is bail unusual. Defendants appearing in court for their cases isn't unusual, either. As for the 60 employees, that I suspect is the total number of employees from bar staff, waiters, stage group, doorman, cleaners, and others .... and obviously they all work different shifts. I hope you and others can understand this. It would seem to me that you didn't fully understand the article. It is the restaurant at the front of the night club that is for sale & in the photograph.

Meanwhile the front man is out on bail I think and the real investors are wanting some money back by selling the restaurant.
