The excuse was the Is didn't have services for 50 people while our border towns are expected to deal with 100's of 1000's of illegals    migrants. The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

The hypocrisy was to send them to a small isolated Island just for political reasons, without caring whether it was convenient of not for the migrants.

What excuse? The migrants didn't want to stay there. They plan to go to communities where they have connections already and where they'll feel more at home. And where they're not stuck on a small island.

Not really on my top 10.

If you had been you would understand that location was picked solely for TROLL purposes. DeSantis is out to out trump trump. Not to actually work towards actual solutions to serious problems but strictly to own the libs. Also the migrants were lied to and made fake promises. SLEAZY!

Of course it's political. I find it poetic that these sanctuary states get a taste of what our border cities put up with everyday. MV is a ultra rich liberal stronghold and they get upset over 50 people. All the while biden won't even so much as visit the problem border.

After enduring a perilous journey over land from their broken country to make a fresh start in the United States, these poor, extremely vulnerable, devout Christian refugees are then rounded up in a vile political stunt.

Of course the usual suspects here in the forum are pleased as punch. That's why we know them as deplorable.

With us your evidence that the people on Martha's vineyard were upset with the migrants on the Island?. The locals had no say in where these migrants ended up. That was between them and the Federal government. It's harder and more costly to get where you want to go if your starting point is an island.

In a related topic I posted that lawers claim that brochures were given to migrants that promised them jobs, etc if they agreed to be transported. This might also be subject to criminal investigation.

The republican trolls are not interested in solutions. God forbid they should support a comprehensive immigration reform bill.

...and what would your "comprehensive immigration reform bill" include?  You may be shocked to find that lots of right wing folks agree with you!

The ONLY thing Republicans are interested is agitating their undereducated, bigot, racist base.

Texas border cities will be better run by Beto O'Rourke. Abbott spent too much time on political stunts than governing.

You must be joking. ORourke hasn't run so much as a lemonade stand in his entire sad life.

Then it should be par for the course since Abbott hasn't run much for the state.

I agree this influx of illegals is not sustainable. The flow of illegals needs to be plugged before any legit discussion can happen. If the democrats were truly interested in stemming the flow across the border they wouldn't have fought so hard against a secure border aka a nice barrier.

Right now we have zero honesty about the border situation coming out of the White House. Biden's press sec recently stated the illegals can't just walk across the border. And no one calls her on her lies.

Even on the dubious assumption that they were able to, you mean they should have overridden the desires of the migrants? You think these migrants are their peons?

Well, if Republicans really wanted to stop undocumented aliens, they would make it a felony to employ them. In Texas, about 8.5% of the workforce is reckoned to be undocumented aliens. Certain industries, like home construction , which has been booming have much higher rates. In Florida it's only a misdemeanor to hire illegal aliens. A $500 fine to be imposed for each illegal. You know how many prosecutions there have been under Desantis? If you guessed higher than 0 you've got it wrong.

Every spring, a whole lotta day laborers head off to the USA to do the summer high seasonal jobs Americans won’t do. Like clockwork they head home for the winter. Mexican families have been dong this for generations. They show up in the same towns their grandfather came to to pick fruit or do hard labor in construction.
Good people that work hard and are excellent neighbors.

Employers in the USA face a $9,000 fine if they fail to verify the identity of every staff by filing an I-9 form for every worker.

Of course the undocumented workers can easily procure all sorts of ID and a social security number.
According to Social Security, $13 billion per year is paid into the social security fund with zero chance these workers ever receive benefits.

You really think the immigrants who forced to flee from persecution, violence, armed conflicts, poverty etc and walked for days/weeks will turned back when they are confronted with a 'nice' barrier. Really.

Remember when our brilliant commander in chief suggested to border police to dig a big ditch and fill it with snakes and alligators.
It’s like he has the brain of a 5 year old.

In theory, according to Federal law, an employer can even be imprisoned for up to 6 months for hiring undocumented aliens.

You do realize all of those Venezeulans that were cynically hijacked for a xenophobic troll theater in the Vineyard are in the US legally as asylum seekers, right?

I used to live in a red state nowhere near a border. There were tons of immigrants a d yes many undocumented. It's a totally fake issue that they stay only in border states.

BTW,  the labor of immigrants is desperately needed now.

As Placeholder said Riclag- official accounts are permitted.  I guess if you want to argue that they are not up to snuff, you could always report my post.
