Sanook Thai Caption: Lost it on hillside bend

Sanook reported from Route 304 in the area between KM markers 233 and 234 where there were three accidents yesterday.

It is a steep hillside section in Thai Sammakhi sub-district of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) heading towards Prachinburi that is especially treacherous and slippery in the rain.

Locals call it "Khong Chalat Pru" - the tricky or smart bend that catches the unwary.

There is plenty of signage warning motorists and one kilometer of cones yet accidents continue to happen.

On Sunday 7 navy recruits travelling back to Sattahip in a Toyota van were injured when their vehicle overturned.

The driver Chattrakan, 50, who was uninjured said he lost control in the wet weather.

Recruits aged 19-21 were taken to Wang Nam Khiaw Hospital.

Then a family in a pick-up ended up in the central reservation at the exact same spot. The driver slowed to see the accident to the van and couldn't control his vehicle.

His wife and one year old child were injured.

Two hours later a Vios ended up leaving the road surface and was headed for a ravine but fortunately stopped in time and there were no injuries.

Wow, what a challenge. So steep, so narrow.

"The Bend", should be made into a documentary.

Needs special driving education :cheesy::cheesy:

(how about saving money for signs, cones and other nonsense and put some more guardrails?)

Pity we can't see the entry to the "tricky bend", good chance it's as good as the straight just after

It is. Nothing exceptional.

Thai quick thinking driving skills involved me thinks.

Whilst doing a 140 Kph in the rain, they spy a bend in the road , and think, " what do I have to do now ".

Oh S@@t - too late !

First, they have to see that bend in the road which is difficult with a smart phone in front of their eyes.
