CARETAKER Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan inspected Khlong Saen Saep floodgate in Minburi to monitor the flooding in the capital with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt being on hand to brief him on the situation, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Sept. 14).

Chadchart told Prawit, who was accompanied by Deputy Defence Minister Gen. Chaicharn Changmongkol and two Palang Pracharat Party MPs, that Bangkok has been lashed by torrential rain for days now and he is going to propose to the Office of the National Water Resources that a water expressway be built to drain floodwater.

This water expressway would not go through the Phra Khanong area, he added.

What can Big Dye offer that many before him failed to achieve? Bangkok is on average 1.5 metres above sea level and flat, good luck with that one!

He might have a higher than average water displacement tonnage, just have to steer him to where he is of best use... (sound of foghorn playing)

Perhaps he could throw himself into the breech with that posture and stem the flow.

I had similar thoughts... head north and block the path by jumping in.

Prawit is an oxygen thief who will contribute zero to rectifying the flood issue. The big question is " how do you stop a natural flood plain from flooding"? They need to divert and store upstream flows away from the down stream flood plain, which incurs massive infrastructure costs to build and maintain.
