for those who don't know you can use you mobile phone to cnnect to the internet and it is reasonably cheap. not the fastest connection but u can write and email and chat on hotmail.

for those who are waiting 6 month for the company to install your line. gives you something to play around with.

just tested it on mine. infact i am writing this on my mobile phone.

just plugs into the usb. install the cd that comes with the phone. thenn connect to the web.

can also do it though blue tooth.

maybe every knew this already but i have just found out lol.

wish i knew this while i was wait for my ttnt to come round.

Koh Samui has EDGE, Koh Phangan does not but I can still get the EDGE signal from Samui with my phone where I live. EDGE is pretty good, as fast as our very bad dialup. And you can get 20 hours for 100 baht with AIS. *138 I think.

I use it at night when I really really need to go on the internet.

Like get my TV fix :o

I use DTAC GPRS, 266 baht a week for unlimited access, it's ok, it would be a lot better if KPG had EDGE, when I'm in BKK then EDGE gives me about a 256k connection, without edge it's dial up speeds.

Keep dreaming, my husband talked to AIS about it, my phone gets an edge signal at our house, his does not (mine is newer and has better reception). Apparently AIS has no plans to put it in here. Perhaps try DTAC. They might offer it, or, with enough interest, put it in.

I think I'm just going the have to bite the bullet and go with ipstar again, I was using a proxy accelerator from www.propel.com combined with GPRS and it was pretty useable but today I tried to renew my subscription with www.propel.com and they won't take any of my credit or debit cards, none of them, visa, mastercard or amex, I think they blocked Thai IP's.

errr IP star had nothing but problems with them. make sure you go to TOT and order it. like a <deleted> i went to a sub company. they charged me about 4 200 baht per month for a crap connection and had to pay 3 months to cancell it.

before he installed the satlelie he kept moaning about how i should not damage the equipment. yet i cancelled over a year abo and still have a satletie on my roof and he hasn;t bothered to colloect the modem which according to him was worth 200 000 baht.

joker.

think TOT is about 2000 baht for 1 mg connection i was paying 4200 for 512 but actually was getting less than a dial up. that was when it was working.

then it was my fault. rash discion based on fustration on not having internet.

we use TTNT here in the bar and pay 850bht for 512k connection.

very few problems , even when using the WIFI

usually get over 400k and that seems good enough for most things!

when i was living in the village i used my mobile all the time, i just used to dial *99# and had a reasonably reliable connection. Too slow for messenger or chat but good for anything else.

When i got my own house I went through TOT and had to get a satellite dish in my front garden as there are no phone lines near my house. I have to pay 2200 for 512. I know of someone that gets internet via his UBC/True set up at 1mb for +/- 700 baht but i think that is only in Bangkok.
