Gen Prayut Acquitted of Alleged Authority Abuse against Protesters

BANGKOK, Sept 27 (TNA) – The Civil Court acquitted Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and others in the case in which they were accused of illegally declaring a state of emergency to crack down on political demonstrations.

 

The Civil Court announced its ruling on the case that seven activists and students filed against Prime Minister Prayut, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, national police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Royal Thai Police Office and the Ministry of Finance. The plaintiffs including students from Mahanakorn University of Technology, Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University complained against the imposition of a state of emergency in Bangkok on Oct 15-22, 2020.

It will take time before everyone will see the truth behind the "state of emergency"--but, with this case having already been adjudicated, no change here is to be expected at that point.

Now to see if this being found not guilty follows the same in his upcoming 8 years in power as the PM ruling........all I can say is if he stays in power this country is in for some turbulent times and I hope the big man understands that.

A foregone conclusion as I suspect will be the one on Friday.

With the Muppets already warning citizens not to protest the verdict it's obvious what the outcome is because of the corrupt judiciary.

I hope to see them back in the streets after 1 October when they lift the decree, i.e. if they do lift it.

 

Governments around the world are changing because the people have had enough, here is a little different, when someone or some people are sick of the government, no names mentioned, they send in the military and then you have what you have since 2014, a caretaker government, come government, lock stock and barrel.

Your sure each of those words is in the Dictionary under the word Prayut as the definition for his legal cases? I would agree at this point.

Where else would a protest be held for public attention? This reason more reflects an attitude towards an oligarchy controlling a nation than a democratic society.

When the "Good People" have pre-emptive exercise over a citizen's constitutional rights, a nation becomes more fascist in nature. 

The court's decision should be appealed for the sake of the nation's reputation and security FOR ALL Thai citizens.

We all know what the emergency decrees were really about. Not much of a surprise here. The courts here are about as impartial and apolitical as the US Supreme Court is at this time. 

 

Hopefully the judiciary will be held to account at some point in the future. Never forget.

If Prayut gets another stint in th PM position all hell is going to break loose on the streets.

And I bet his first motion will to put the emergency decree back in place, so he can lock up the protesters while other mass tourism gatherings can go ahead as usual
