BANGKOK, (Xinhua) -- Thailand's leading mobile operator AIS and China's ZTE on Tuesday jointly launched a 5G innovation center in an effort to facilitate local infrastructure upgrading and elevate the nation's digital economy.

Thai Minister of Digital Economy and Society Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn said at the launching ceremony that he believed the cooperation between Thai and Chinese companies will certainly help Thailand upgrade its digital technology and achieve the digitalization goals of the national strategy Thailand 4.0.

Chaiwut is optimistic that 5G technology will further improve the overall quality of life in the country.

Kan Trakulhoon, AIS's chairman of the Board of Directors, said that the cooperation with ZTE is more than a mere partnership. "We have a common goal of seeing Thailand release its full potential and to emerge as an even more powerful digital nation."

Personally I say good, I hope Thailand partners with China all the way. The faster it lays with the Chinese the faster the US will cut off ties and exclude it as a trade partner.  A win IMHO.  Enjoy your 5G, of course as the regime tightens control it will be a high speed propaganda machine only.

Anything that speeds up the move from Asia to SA and Mexico the better.

The days of Thailand playing both sides is over.

Well done Thailand.... share all your customers private information with China...

Advice to those worried about their information falling into China’s hands. Don’t have a smartphone. Use a landline instead lol. Or live in another country without Chinese tech (good luck with that lol).

As if the Chinese government is interested in your info lol.

Ever heard of Edward Snowden?

The Chinese government is very interested in your online activity...

it's where they get most of their information from, especially on what, where and when you spend money for example.

A rather blinkered and naive comment.

Ever heard of Edward Snowden?

He's now a Russian citizen, granted and welcomed by Czar Putin!

He’s an American citizen,

With respect, I beg to differ. Just a few days ago:

"President Vladimir Putin on Monday (26 September) granted Russian citizenship to former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden"

You mean that if an American citizen gets citizenship from another country, they cease being American citizens? Dual nationality not allowed? Lol.

And no, he won’t be called up to fight. He’s not a reservist. The call up wasn’t a draft. Try to get your facts right.
