Scott Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 While Ukraine’s military has been successfully chasing Russian troops out of one territory after another, Vladimir Putin’s foot soldiers have apparently been turning their weapons on each other as the Russian leader’s “special military operation” continues to come apart at the seams in spectacular fashion. The Kremlin’s flailing bid to get an edge on the battlefield by deploying mercenaries from the Wagner Group—which now includes hundreds of prison inmates—has reportedly backfired as the private military force butts heads with the Russian military. The growing conflict resulted in a Wagner fighter gunning down a lieutenant colonel in the Russian army—a deadly episode of “friendly fire” that the Kremlin is said to be trying to sweep under the rug, according to the human rights group Gulagu.net. https://www.yahoo.com/news/putin-dueling-foot-soldiers-now-155912351.html 1 1

I hold one that his removal will allow an end to his war. His friends may be no better but they can see that Russia has failed in Ukraine and that continuing this conflict is detrimental to Russia’s interests. They may be fuming in private but publicly they shift all the blame on putin and bring an end to this utterly pointless war. 1

Plus removing putin removes the button pressing finger.

Bkk Brian Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Splits definitely going on The Wagner Private Military Company today launched its own private Telegram channel, indicating that Wagner financier Yevgeny Prigozhin may want a voice that is clearly his own to compete with milbloggers and possibly Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov. https://understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-october-6 RIFTS OPEN UP AT THE TOP In an unprecedented sign of infighting in the higher echelons of the government, the Kremlin-backed regional leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has scathingly criticized the top military brass, accusing them of incompetence and nepotism. Kadyrov blamed Col. Gen. Alexander Lapin for failing to secure supplies and reinforcements for his troops that led to their retreat from Lyman. He declared that the general deserves to be stripped of his rank and sent to the front line as a private to “wash off his shame with his blood.” https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-putin-6ef2407371c67f0736459378833fab7a 2

In a dictatorhip like Russia is now the leader has support as long as nothing goes seriously wrong. So most Russians went along with Putin. But since the support is tepid, when it looks like a disaster that is going to seriously affect their lives, that support will mostly evaporate. Perhaps they're at that tipping point now.
