not too worried about having a real quick connection as will only be there six months of the year.

That`s how long I sometimes have to wait for ONE webpage to load!!!:o

WE never use the phone line here except for internet, we both have cells.

Last months phone bill was 600 baht.

I go through an internet package a week ( surf a lot) 250 baht.

Monthly cost is around 1 500 to 2000 baht/month.

There are hi speed connections in my area (Chonburi) but I was told our house is a stone`s throw too far from the central, YOU HAVE TO BE ABOUT 5 TO 8 KM from it(NOT IN STRAIGHT LINE, TALKING PHYSICAL LINE LENGHT)

By the way, WHEN ARE THE CABLE COMPANIES GOING TO JUMP ON THE NET WAGON IN LOS???

Hey penzman, did you know you can get a 30 day package for 349 baht? Uses a 1222 number though, in case you don't like that idea. But I don't often have a problem in Phuket. And sometimes they forget to cut me off after 3 hours, so it's 3 baht for 6 hours :D . "Pacific Internet X-treme 1222" it's called - a blue package with a big "30 days unlimited 349 baht" on the front. I get it from Se-ed bookshop in Tesco's.

1222 number

free marmite sample with every package?

What s the deal with a 1222 number???

:o:D Free marmite? I wish! :D ! Have a look at these threads:

They both discuss ISPs. The problem with the 1222 number is that it is used by many ISPs and in some areas it is difficult to log on and/or you get kicked off too soon. But here, down in Phuket, I don't get many problems. Anyway, have a look - there are lots of good posts in these threads.

Went out yesterday to get new packages. Saw the Pacific internet you were mentioning, wife said she d tried em before and was useless as she could never connect. KSC i must admit is very reliable for connecting, 2 alternate numbers and stable .

How very strange! Down in Phuket, I rarely have a problem. It might be worth 349 baht just to try it for a month :o . Can you say where in Thailand you are? It might be interesting to find out where the 1222 number is overloaded...
