Nakhon Si Thammarat – An intoxicated man was arrested with two guns, bullets, and twenty methamphetamine pills near a school to allegedly snatch his child after an argument with his wife.

 

The Central Investigation Bureau Police Region 5 in Nakhon Si Thammarat reported today (October 7th) that they were notified that Mr. Teerapong, who was intoxicated, was heading to a school to snatch his seven-year-old child in the Ron Phibun district after he had an argument with his wife.

 

The shocking incident came only one day after a horrific mass shooting at a daycare center in Nong Bua Lampu.

That's all Thailand need now, a copy cat would be murderers taking the law on to their hands and solving problems with guns...

Now that the tragedy the other day  in Nong Bua Lampu is in the public consciousness, I hope it is not going to be the start of a spate of similar events.  

Too many fragile egos here with access to guns.

Too many, "She hurt my feelings. I'll show her." stories in the  news.

 

The gov't really need to get more guns off the streets. It seems as if almost everyone has one, or can  easily get one.

A good starting point would be for the government to have a 'hand in your guns' amnesty. No questions asked. A similar campaign in Australia some years back saw a staggering amount of guns surrendered.

A good idea .... but with the levels of corruption here, I think half the weapons handed in would go 'missing ' and just end up being sold back to criminals....

Unfortunately the “contagion effect” is a real thing and has spawned copycats of major and horrific murders world wide... 

.... Its one of the reason there is a drive by some to limit the reporting of such events so that nut-cases are not given ideas.... 

 

It's a sad testament to the society we live in, but we need to recognise there are quite a lot of unhealthy minds out there.

I know what you mean BUT - a caveat to the anonymous surrender of guns in Australia was much harsher penalties for failure to surrender unlicensed weapons. Ultimately criminals will be criminals.  At least some deadly weapons may be out of reach of those that probably shouldn't have access to them.
