23 billion baht to be earmarked for post-flood rehabilitation

About 23 billion baht will be allocated to rehabilitation programs for provinces affected by the current flooding, Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said today (Tuesday).

 

She said that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed agencies responsible for rehabilitation to be prepared to conduct field inspections of areas affected by flooding, to assess damage caused to property, and then to then request appropriate funding.

 

Regarding damaged farmland, she said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives is directly responsible for the rehabilitation program, whereas repairs to damaged roads and other infrastructure are to be undertaken by the appropriate agencies, such as the Department of Rural Roads and the Highways Department.

Many billions always earmarked for "Post Flood" envelopes

 

But how about earmarking billions to cure the problem from reoccurring every year?

Or would that make too big a hole in the Trough?

Unless this money is used to move people from flooded areas to new homes on hills away from and off of flood planes it's just money wasted this year, next year, etc. etc.

Wow, 23 million baht! Talk about a drop in the ocean. How about scrapping that ridiculous plan to buy submarines and doing something good for the people instead? But the military gotta have their toys, no matter how the people are suffering.
