Penang / HCM 1 year Multiple Non-O Marriage

Featured Replies

Has anyone done a 1 year Multiple Entry Non-O Visa based on Marriage, at either Penang or HCM, recently. If so, what were the document requirements and how long did it take and cost.

I have tried emailing the two consulates, but no reply.

Regards

I did it at HCMC in Dec 2019 and from what I can see things are now as they were.

Fairly straightforward, hand in application in morning and collect following afternoon. Very small office, they only let a few in at a time and I would advise having everything ready before going, you can download the application form. only info on wife required, no financials.

I was the last of the group I was with to go in, all the others went straight to a desk and started writing, I just went straight to the window. My wife was with me but they wouldn't let her in because of space.

The fee for ME is 200 USD and must be paid in USD, i was asked outside for USD by some that had been turned away.

On the day of collection, everyone in queue had their passport back within 20  minutes of them opening the doors, once you were allowed in only a couple of minutes.

I haven't been to Penang embassy but have been to Penang, I preferred the time in HCMC.

 2.4.1. Thai spouse:

  • Guarantee letter from Thai Spouse, can be Thai or English
  • Copy of Thai marriage certificate

                    - If an applicant has another national marriage certificate, the document will need to be translated in English by a notary public

                    - For Vietnamese marriage certificate need to be legalized by Department of External Relation in Ho chi Minh City (Address: 184 Bis Pasteur, Quận 1, TP.HCM)

  • Certified copy of Thai spouse’s ID card
  • Certified copy of house registration book
  • Other relevant document, for example copy of Thai child’s birth certificate with their passport/Id card

Bumping your thread as you haven't had many replies.

Excellent post above however hopefully someone can confirm recent report of obtaining ME Non O from HCMC.

Strangely much more expensive than Savannakhet.

I agree with first post re Saigon.

Ripper joint and would choose that over Penang every day of the week.

The Thai consulate office is small but very helpful.

Vietnam bit strange right now.

For those entering Vietnam and need a visa only have 30 day  tourist visa.

Mention this as you need recent report of ME Non O issued in HCMC.

Yes, I used to do my Non-O visa in HCM before Covid, but just wondering if it is still the same procedure or if anything has changed.

I was in HCMC last week and received a new Non O (Marriage) Multi Entry 12 month visa whilst there.

The cost was $200, and I dropped my application/passport in at the Consulate at 9:30am and received the new visa in my passport at 1:30pm the next day.

Note that I had made an online appointment for the application 3 weeks earlier. The online appointment system is a great improvement resulting in a very short/fast queue, in stark contrast to the Consulate in Phnom Penh where chaos reigns. (Applicants in HCMC without an appointment are rejected).

For documentation, I followed the list in the Consulate website:-

I used Banana Visa in Penang when I did my Multi-Entry 1 year Non-O (Retirement)...

http://bananapenang.com/main/?page_id=76

You could email them [email protected] to ask what you would need to bring/costs etc...

If you do decide to use Penang (lovely place for a few days holiday) then I would recommend staying at Chulia Mansions which is just a couple of minutes walk away from Banana Visa.

Not sure what visas Penang and what the requirements are.

Before they had nothing about visas on their website. There is a list of visas now but when you click on a visa type it takes you to the home page. See: https://penang.thaiembassy.org/th/publicservice/114490-visa-requirements-ii

It seems all you can do is call or email them. Email:  [email protected]  Phone: (604) 226-8029, 226-9484, 228-6784

I have read about the ME non O based on retirement.

Surprised not more folk don't choose that option.

Have never met anyone in person that has one.

I believe they may also be available in Savannakhet.

Penang and Savannakhet were doing the them before covid 19 with financial proof.

I have seen no recent reports about them being done now.

Savannakhet shows the non-o single entry here: https://savannakhet.thaiembassy.org/th/publicservice/non-immigrant-visa-o-visa-retirement-in-thailand?page=5d84a44c15e39c26b400453e&menu=5d84a44c15e39c26b400453f

I think the may do the multiple entry non-o but do not show it on their website.

Going on Penang's website is a waste of time other than getting their email address and phone number and a map.

July 16th 2018 (I can remember watching the France v Croatia cup final the night before) - I posted a pic of the Visa on this thread

They might not do them anymore but I suggested contacting that agency anyway as if anybody can tell you what you need to get a Non-Imm O visa in Penang it will be those guys (or Jim across the road).
