Popular Post webfact
Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on continuing action by large numbers of officers against Chinese owned pubs in Bangkok and Pattaya. They are investigating claims that the pubs are centers for illegality involving drugs, weapons and gambling. And in the crosshairs of RTP deputies Gen Torsak Sukhwimon and Pol Gen Surachate "Big Joke" Hakpan was one high profile pub owner called "David" - he is also known as Sui Tai Woey. He has a Thai wife and children that go to school in the kingdom. He has been in the country for ten years. "David" was a key individual named by firebrand former MP and TV presenter Chuwit Kamolwisit in press briefings. His activities were also believed to be outlined in a brown envelope dossier handed by Chuwit to Big Joke last week. David is being investigated for conspiracy to defraud customs and irregularities in connection with the ownership of luxury automobiles. Some 100 million baht's worth of red plate luxury cars were seized by the two generals at his residence in Soi Charoenmit off Ekkamai (Soi 63) in downtown Bangkok. He is also believed to be involved in illegal online gambling and money laundering. Warrants were issued for searches of 35 residences connected to the owners of Top One in Sutthisan, Jin Ling in Yannawa (David is not the owner of this establishment said the media), Club One in Pattaya and Baby Face pub, owned by David. The search warrants were enacted in Bangkok (17), Chonburi (11), Samut Prakan and Chumphon (2 each) and one each in Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon and Khon Kaen. Thai nominees were used to front the pubs. In addition seven pubs in Bangkok were checked. Some 329 patrons were checked for drug taking, but just one was positive. The pubs were three in Huay Khwang called Asgard, Booze and Hollywood. Three in RCA Plaza were checked. These are K Bangkok, Joy Luck and Space Plus. David's Baby Face pub in Ekkamai was also checked. A total of 700 police officers took part in the searches yesterday. Police said there was evidence opf drug taking at David's house. This came after widespread drug taking - 104 Chinese tourists tested positive - at Jin Ling last week and other investigations in Pattaya. Three police officers in Pattaya are also under investigation for their assistance for illegal activity at the eastern seaboard resort. Elsewhere in the news Chuwit appeared with generals Torsak and Surachate as more warrants were served yesterday. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-02 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. webfact
Police inspect entertainment venues in 6 locations throughout Bangkok by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - 200 police officers were deployed to inspect entertainment venues around Bangkok last night, with no serious issues being discovered. Meanwhile, the chief of the police force is warning entertainment venue operators to keep in line with laws and regulations. A 5-year closure order will be enforced on venues that violate regulations on narcotics, guns, and opening time. Royal Thai Police Deputy Commissioners Torsak Sukvimol and Surachate Hakparn led about 200 police officers to inspect entertainment venues in 6 locations throughout Bangkok. The venues inspected were believed to potentially belong to foreign owners and run through nominees. The venues included KBangkok, Space, Hollywood, Brooz, Asgard, and Baby Face. The police officers conducted random urine tests and gun searches among venue customers. They also made sure there were no minors under the age of 18 present at each venue. Pol. Gen. Torsak said the inspection aimed to search for guns, narcotics, and underaged minors inside the entertainment venues. He indicated any establishment found to have violated laws governing the aforementioned issues will be ordered close for 5 years. The owner of any place ordered closed but continuing to operate under the radar face a prison sentence of 1 year. The deputy police chief said entertainment venues have the responsibility of preventing issues of narcotics, guns, and underage customers. He acknowledged foreign investors illegally operating entertainment venues in a mafia-like fashion has become a problem. The police force is aware of the significance of this matter and local police units have been told to strictly inspect and suppress this activity. Pol. Gen. Surachate said preliminary inspection did not discover wrongdoings at any of the venues inspected last night (31 October). Traces of narcotics were found in the urine of 3 customers but no narcotic substance was found on their persons. Pol. Gen. Surachate noted this figure of positive urine results was very low, and the entertainment venues provided authorities with their cooperation.
