Great idea.. message to all foreign tourists, check out and compare prices in Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, or maybe even closer to home and get a cheaper air ticket... surprise surprise, Thailand is not the only tourist destination... let the market decide.... but don't cry if it all goes wrong..

Why stop at hotel room rates, Bill? You could really go for the jugular and you and Uncle Prayuth could work togethr on blueprints for a scheme to use national tax monies to pay for and  install pay toilets in every hotel room in the country, a meter on every bathroom door, 10 baht unlocks it, another 10 baht gets you a flush from the meterd coin operated toilet, 50 baht for 5 five minutes of luke warm water from the shower, metered televisions 50 baht a half hour,  and dual pricing on restaurant items, a 1000 baht deposit to leave the hotel and mandatory pcr test to get back in and should you test positive, get lost, go sleep on the beach and thanks for the deposit and the money you paid for the room, no refunds! And if you don't like it go eat a hot dog and tend to your penguin farm in Bohunkland and stay outta Bill's hair! This is Bill's and Uncle P's country not yours! If you have nothing to give then stay home, buncha free loadin skinflints!

We already pay 3 or 400 AUD a night at Anantara, Kempinski, St Regis etc in LOS.

If folks can afford the above which most cannot then tax the high end hotels and resorts sure not the middle and lower.

AND don't let the entrenched corrupt steal this added tax like they do everything else!

 

What a total p0nce. Here's a suggestion akin to some others posted here ... How about this plonker donating some of his insanely astronomical wealth to help OR ... how about the 1% of Thailand that control EVERYTHING and take EVERYTHING give a bit more to the nation.

It was better that he suggested to put a few millions dollars in specials discounts to attrack tourists.Tourists who are scammed don't come to a hotel or country and it will cost more than if he invste a few millions to make everything more attractive... Im American ???????? Retired in Thailand, We don’t charge more based on your ethnicity in America ???????? For a Hotel why should it be done anywhere in the world !! ?? Seems a little xenophobic in my opinion, Besides that’s the problem with the world ????, Wealth controlling our Governments and not the people controlling them !!

a 150%-300% uplift on medical charges for foreigners,

a 500% uplift on entry fees for foreigners into national parks,

 

How long I wonder before Noi on Beach Road starts consulting her GDP tables and demands a surcharge based on country of origin! In fact that already happens with the Japanese does it not.

Implement a foreigner air breathing tax and be done with it, charge by the lungful or the minute, no matter. Estimated deposits calculated on arrival, all cards accepted, enjoy your stay.

Perhaps every dog and its owner shouldn't be opening a hotel, motel, or guest house.

 

In my little sh*t hole of the world near Nong Khai there are no less than like a dozen new hotels etc. Most completely empty. Some banking on the Chinese. Some rent by the hour. Most opened cause they could build 5 or 10 rooms and people would come. Free breakfast????.

You need to do some reading and learn about Bill Henecke.

 

He started off with nothing and built a multi billion dollar global conglomerate, from scratch. He relinquished his US citizenship and became a Thai national. What he did, his efforts, were remarkable, he is however sadly wrong on this particular point.

In other words, he wants to increase his prices but knows he will lose business to his competitors. So, force everyone to increase the price by the same amount. Keep the business and make more money. Dual pricing is never acceptable. I will be boycotting all his hotels from now on.
