And wine is taxed out of the market. More ganja smoked less beer sold. Gee, wonder who’s financing the push-back??? The number of deaths from marijuana is significantly lower by far than those who start to drive with no training and just kill themselves inadvertently. And then add booze. This is trying to shove a spike in Anutin’s pre election popularity and some older guys knee jerk reactionary attitude. And push back on lower booze sales. TKDfella
Have these MP's got nothing better to do? Like using as much effort to get the gov. to police the traffic laws better. When I drive by the local market I'm more likely to get crushed by one of the number of overloaded pickups than I am through someone smoking 'weed'...unless,of course, the pickups are overloaded with 'weed' ????. But did he get it right. It was rolled out without the teeth it needed, they then back tracked again to add some teeth to the rules, but still it needed to be tweaked some more. Thailand rolls out programs all of the time and then backtracks on them little by little until it only Applies to a few. That's what they are trying to do here. Recreational use was never written into the law now for all to use, except those with medical needs now wasn't it? Yet many took it that far and all use it openly, which is not how the law was written. Edited November 21, 2022 by ThailandRyan

Purdey
Why not do what they've done for alcohol and tobacco and make weed for over 18s only? (Except in medical cases). Ciggies cause cancer and emphasima and definitely kill. No medicinal properties at all. Alcohol causes negative effects on families. The government hasn't done a lot to stop people driving drunk or beating up the wife. Cannabis makes you hungry. That's it. The government could make a lot of revenue by taxing cannabis without killing anyone. I even have a slogan prepared: Only tote if you can vote.

I think a lot of people have now forgotten that Anutin has put his foot in his mouth many times, in addition to his anti farang comments in the past. His reasons for promoting weed are twofold - one to make him a multi millionaire rather than just a common millionaire, and secondly to put himself over as the "good guy" politician that understands young people and their "hopes and dreams" in the run up to the next election. It’s a pity they can’t spend more time trying to stop the amount of people killed and injured on the roads I agree with your post, and it's just another example of this Government being the "Hub of Turnarounds". Regarding your last sentence, this has been said many times before. Unfortunately, there will be nothing done regarding that particular situation until the RTP actually do the job that they are supposed to do, and that will not happen due to the pathetically low wages that they are paid, which in part has led to the level of corruption that can be seen from top to bottom in that particular organisation.
