Kanchanaburi Phu Nam Ron border open?

Featured Replies

Anyone crossed this border lately?

Experiences?

Quite a few post here that tells us no land border Thailand- Myanmar open for foreigners. So I would guess not.

The info on Thai Visa Service web page is,

  •  The Land border with Myanmar at Phu Nam Ron/Kanchanaburi is still closed and will remain closed for a while.

Can you explain how this is a suitable replacement for a border bounce at Phy Nam Ron. Normally, people doing this want a fresh visa exempt entry or a fresh entry using a multiple entry visa. I am not aware of any immigration office providing a service equivalent to either.

I have two options extending  my stay at Immigration, or a border run. 30 days at immigration Or 45 days a bounce at the border. It doesnt matter what I do, I need one or the other next time to, before Im heading back to Europe.

True enough. This who in the past preferred travelling to a border crossing rather than their local immigration office (when needing less than 30 days and not having previously extended) will now be forced to use the cheaper option of an extension at the local immigration office.

I will hit Nong Khai next time in 30 days. I have been on retirement the last two years, so I guess it will be all good. First renewal of Exemption now.
