My assumption is that the border crossing points are open every day of the year, but only between certain hours of the day.

Are there any special days when they might be closed - specifically are they open this Christmas and New year?

Each border checkpoint has its own opening hours.

Some are open during daylight hours only (can close as early as 6 PM).

Others like 10 PM or 11 PM (major checkpoints).

The borders are open 365 days of the year.

I've been charged a small "fee" on Holidays, 30 baht or so I suppose goes to the people working those days as a bonus.
