Thailand Supports Digital IDs for Smoother Airport Check-Ins
File photo for reference only Thai nationals travelling by air can now enjoy faster check-ins with the introduction of the ThaID app, which allows them to use digital identification cards. This innovation aims to ease travel during the busy new year holiday season. As Jirayu Houngsub from the Prime Minister’s Office highlights, airports like Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi will especially see smoother check-in processes when combined with airline online services. The app adds convenience by integrating with a new biometric identification system at airports, making boarding pass verification swifter and reducing queuing time. Passengers who check-in online through the Airports of Thailand platform can skip directly to the boarding gates with an electronic boarding pass. This move is part of the government's broader strategy to roll out digital IDs across state services. Additionally, the ThaID app provides a handy backup for travellers who forget their physical IDs and streamlines other bureaucratic processes. It allows users to update government agencies on changes like residence address without needing to visit government offices, thus simplifying administrative tasks for Thai citizens. -- 2024-12-23 -

Thai police removed after video exposes traffic fine misconduct
Has anyone ever had a 'traffic fine' that has not been 'collected' in this manner ???? The only issue here is the is that it was caught on video... ... whoever published the video might now expect to be charged with brining Thailand into disrepute and some made up crime of filming and official and that being a breach of the computer crimes act or some such similar face saving measure... -

"Flat Earther" finally admits the Earth isn't flat
Thank you Rattlesnake !!! I now understand how the staunch opposition on AN and elsewhere have difficulty following the so-called "anti vax narrative" . Why , it must be about as baffling as that video was to me . I guess I might have been able to figure it out if i tried hard enough ...... but Nah..... i just dutifully put my laughing emoji down (number nine ) so as to fit in with the crowd . 😄😄 Now , as soon as i can figure out how to straighten out my writing ......... i will wait for Lacessit to help explain it all to me . He ALWAYS knows everything .....about everything. And ALWAYS lets us know ! May the heliocentric force be with you..... mi amigo ! -

Home-Country Ghosts of Christmas Past: Do you miss them?
The last Christmas I even celebrated was in 1990 when I came home from university for the holiday. I had bought my mother an answering machine as she was frequently out of the house. Upon opening it, she scoffed and said “I’ll never use an answering machine” She then presented me with my present. My parents had just returned from a trip to Scandinavia and she got me a Norwegian wool sweater almost identical to the one pictured below…in her size…not mine. She knew I wouldn’t like it so she kept it for herself. Pretty pathetic that she’d buy her son a woman’s sweater (maybe it’s a man’s sweater in Norway but certainly not in Southern California)….but I guess it was better than the year that she gave the all the children Trident chewing gum and large plastic paper clips. I kept the answering machine
