To level the criticism here, almost every coutry in the world allow their own citizens to enter their country without restrictions.
This is not a Thai only rule.
In 2021, at the height of the COVID infections, I asked if it was possible to return to my home country whilst I was living in a country which was "RED" marked and I got the response that "own citizens are always allowed to ge back to their own country".

Not a fan of this guy but by now it should be a given that everyone should be vaccinated. If you’re affluent enough to take a holiday in Thailand you should have enough brains to have vaccinated yourself. Stop being a government basher just for the sake of it.

A really intelligent measure. A Chinse tourist who had 2 Sinovac shots over a year ago is considered safe. 5555

 

Still this is from the team that pocketed a ton of cash from Sinovac.

So do you believe that two shots of any vaccine, let alone Chinese vaccines already prooved ineffective, taken at any time in past will made any difference to aperon's abilty to be infected and poss on the virus.

Expect this whole thing to be reversed in a few days and the Thai government "Wai" their sorry for this decision.
Everything will be back to normal by the end of the month and tourism will be blooming again.
Followed in February by mass infection world wide due to the Thai and the tourists being exposed to the infected "....." Chinese ".....".
History repeating itself again.

According to @sakamoto_kappei about 15 tourists on his Turkish Airlines TK64 flight that left Istanbul last night were refused boarding. They didn’t know about the sudden entry rules change. He added there were no checks on arrival in Bangkok. So they could have come.

 

However some passengers (around 15) could't board in Istanbul as they had no vaccination proof.

Some folks did not vaccinated for medical reasons, or personal reason?

Thailand is the only country that is NOT requiring restrictions against only the Chinese? Reason because they don;t want upset the cash cow and President Xi?

The Thai government changed its entry requirements, giving less than 2 days notice to airlines worldwide and then changed them again? This is not how a professional organization behaves, its totally ludicrous!

I’m talking generally and not for exceptional circumstances. I think it is irresponsible of people not getting vaccinated regardless of travel to Thailand. 

Lots of useful firsthand experience being posted on my Facebook page about new entry rules for #Thailand. Some airlines are not asking for documents. Others are being very strict such as refusing boarding to vaccinated people who didn’t have their certificate on them.

Of course Thais are higher on the Thai hierarchical social ladder than non-Thais. 

Actually, foreigners don't even get on the first rung. 

If you mean the world social ladder, then I assure you most countries have no restrictions for their own citizens.

Yes, obviously applied to all non-Thai visitors just to capture the Chinese, and so Anutin can say Thailand won't discriminate against Chinese visitors. Intead Thailand will discriminte against all non-Thais.

 

China, of course, requires all Thai visitors (plus any other foreign visitors) to have a negative Covid test before arrival.

Tourists will just start avoiding Thailand. After all the rules change as quickly as the weather in Europe.

To my understanding the rules go into effect today (someone just arriving from abroad this morning  may have departed before midnight).

 

Also to my understanding the plan is for airlines to enforce at time of check in, no plans for a check upon arrival (which would have huge manpower implications and aggravate bottlenecks at the airport).

 

May take time for all airlines to get the word, but unless the rules are revoked I think airlines  will start to  enforce.
