Bangkok administration urges working from home on Thursday due to bad air quality

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has sought cooperation from the public and private sectors by allowing their staff to work from home on Thursday, in anticipation of poor air quality in the city, which may reach health-threatening levels.

 

BMA officials and the Pollution Control Department met on Tuesday to discuss the air pollution problem, caused by the accumulation of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere, which is likely to worsen on Thursday due poor air circulation.

 

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said that the amount of PM2.5 in the atmosphere in the capital has been increasing over the past two days, although the situation improved slightly today (Tuesday) due to strong winds.

 

He warned that the situation is, however, expected to deteriorate on Thursday.

Centres opening to cope with PM2.5 pollution as more people fall sick

 

 

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health has instructed all provinces to prepare to open operations centres if the level of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere exceeds 50 microns for three consecutive days, as more people are suffering from air pollution-related health problems.

 

According to the ministry, the number of people who have fallen sick as a result of air pollution, caused by PM2.5, has increased from 96,109 last week to 212,674 this week.

 

Most of them suffer from eye, nose or skin irritation, breathing difficulties, headaches or nausea.

I urge a new administration due to poor air quality, no ideas about how to fix the problem., and not one creative soul in the entire government here. Lock them all up.

But tourists are urged to come and walk freely around to take in the sights and spend freely.

Always only hear about Bangkok. No mention that air quality in the provinces is appalling right now. There is a huge amount of burning going on in Kanchanaburi right now both rice stubble and clearing the sugarcane for cutting. There is absolutely no will to do anything about the problem by anyone with the power to solve it.

how many deaths can be associated with  those figures ? 

 

ill go out on a limb and say that in the last decade far more people have died of this than covid in thailand.

Sad but true…far too often in my central Bangkok locale I catch a clear whiff of some burning going on somewhere nearby.
