Daily News Thai Caption: Monk angry with novice

Daily News reported on a post on a site that translates as "Hot News 24H" that featured a bloodied novice who was attacked by a monk at a temple in Sa Kaeo, eastern Thailand.

The post suggested that the monk was teaching the novice a lesson while he was eating. They felt sorry for the novice who was covered in blood.

He had been smashed over the head by a plate that was now broken.

Comment from Thai netizens was swift and extensive with people calling on an investigation by the Buddhist authorities.

Many suggested that the monk concerned should apologize and defrock himself as this was decidedly un-Buddhist.

And I will “teach the Lesson”  to this “FMonk” instead hit a novice;

- learn that Buddhism proclaims nonviolence as one of its fundamental principles.

A smashing time had by all except one...

Well, what was the lesson being taught?

That novice can teach the monk a lesson.....always sleep with one eye open after you have smashed a plate over a novices head.

Defrocking is a lesson for many fake monks.

What kind of lesson is learned by smashing a plate over the head

of someone? Do not trust a monk?

Just wondering.

He should be immediately ousted from the monastery, and excommunicated from Buddhism. He obviously has no understanding of the teachings of the Buddha, nor any self control. See ya, fool!

If all the "un-Buddhist" monks in Thailand were defrocked, who would be left?!!

If you get hit on the head with a plate it breaks the plate.

They'd be frocked for sure then.

poor boy ....  on one hand he would still feel ashamed,  but also angry.  I hope someone is on his side and helping him.

Hit that monk with a stick dad ....

Just part of the sometimes crazy world of Thailand.

Violent Monks, honestly, what ever next.:stoner:

Locking up children in temples is an abjection anyway. "Deranged monk" is a pleonasm.
