Thailand extends free insurance coverage for foreign tourists until year-end

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has announced an extension of its free insurance program for international visitors until December 31, 2024. The campaign, which provides cash compensation to foreign tourists in cases of accidents, emergencies, and deaths, was initially set to expire on August 31st after being in effect since January 1st this year.

Under the policy terms, each case of death entitles the tourist or their family to a 1 million baht compensation. Incidents resulting in loss of organs or permanent disabilities are covered for 300,000 baht. Medical expenses from accidents are compensated based on actual costs up to a maximum of 500,000 baht.

When I was looking for health insurance for my business, I found that exploring international options can be really helpful, especially if you're spending time outside your home country. I needed a plan that covered my team abroad, so I looked into group insurance, which sometimes offers better rates and flexibility than individual plans.

I ended up working with https://www.taylorbenefitsinsurance.com/ for our group coverage. They helped me understand different plan options and navigate coverage needs, which made the whole process way less stressful. It might be worth checking them out for reliable options if you’re considering insurance while abroad.

I'm pigging backing on this.

Insurance is getting pricer and pricer...  quotes are ranging significantly.

Pacific Cross is competitively priced (as below) - I'm wondering how good Pacific Cross are to deal with when making a claim.

They will try their best to find pre-existing conditions to deny a claim, if you don't have any known or unknown ones then nothing to worry about, if they find pre-existing conditions not declared they can cancel your insurance even if irrelevant to the claim.

A friend had to demand action in their office, they were dragging their feet whether to cover a detached retina op where time is of the essence

As Scuba said above, make sure that you have made complete declaration of any pre-existing conditions.

My suggestion would be to submit medical records going back as far as you can and let the insurer decide what affects their underwriting judgement. Don't just fill out the proposal form based upon what you can recall or what you understand about your medical history. Many of us have test results or doctors' notes in our medical files that haven't been properly explained to us or which were are unaware of that could be cited as as non-disclosure and thus grounds for denying a claim and canceling a policy from inception. Also, make sure you read the policy beforehand and make yourself aware of any obligations you may have under the policy.

If you take care of the above, you are unlikely to have any issues with PC when it comes to claims.
