Chinese Tourist Allegedly Slashed by Tour Operator in Phuket

Phuket – A Chinese tourist has allegedly been injured after being slashed by a tour operator in Kata.
 

It has been reported that a Chinese tourist was with their family on January 29th last month and that they bought a package tour day trip to the Similan Island in Phang Nga for 9,000 baht from a tour company near a hotel in Kata. They paid 5,000 baht for a deposit.

 

The day trip began on January 31st, and the tour operator appointed was set to meet the Chinese family at a hotel at 5:50 A.M.. However, the tour operator did not come. The Chinese tourists tried to contact the tour operator for one hour. The tour operator was then finally able to be contacted but stated they went to the wrong hotel.

 

At this point, the Chinese tourists wanted to cancel the entire trip and asked for a refund. However, the tour operator did not see eye to eye on this request with the tourist, claiming the wrong information was given.

Well, a normal corrupt Thai operator, There could be a miscommunication but nothing would warrant violence. But that is the principal motto on which Thai operator operates, very well done !!

Welcome to LOScams.   You bring your family, plan, spend 5000 out of 9000 for a wonderful experience, get in a fight, get slashed, cut, bleed, hurt, kids scared, reporters, police, no trip, no money refunded I'm sure, family upset, etc......

In the video interview, Anutin also invites Chinese people to visit Thailand, saying Chinese and Thai people are like family.

Soft power to attrack more tourists... no scams in Thailand.... and as they write...."The tourist said to local Thai media that they were upset with relevant authorities that they have asked for help." again good promotion for all parties... touroperators and RTP.....

Stories like this are being told when they come back from holiday to family and friends.... promotion of Thailand as wonderful country???

Phuket tour company has licence suspended, faces substantial fine after attacking Chinese tourist

A Phuket tour company has had its licence suspended for 6 months and could be fined up to 500,000 baht after one of its employees attacked a Chinese tourist with a knife. The attack was the result of a row over a deposit payment for a trip to the Similan Islands.

 

It’s understood a Chinese family had booked a 9,000 baht day trip to the Similan Islands through the company, which included a pick-up at their hotel. When making the booking, the family paid a deposit of 5,000 baht.

 

On the morning of the trip, the tour guide failed to show at the hotel at 5.50am, as agreed. The family spent an hour trying to contact the tour operator. Eventually, it emerged that the guide had gone to the wrong hotel and at this stage, the family decided to cancel the trip and asked for their deposit back.

 

It was at this point that things got ugly, with the tour company refusing to refund the deposit. The family filed a report with Karon Police, with officers accompanying them to the tour company’s office.

 

The company subsequently refunded 3,000 baht but refused to return the full deposit amount. When the family insisted they wanted all their money back, an employee with the tour company, identified only as 44 year old Ms Wiree, slashed one of them with a knife.

 

Cue another report filed with Karon Police, who questioned Wiree and confiscated a knife found under a motorbike seat. Wiree has admitted to the attack but claims it was in self-defence and that she feared the Chinese tourist would hurt her.

 

The Bureau of Tourism Business and Guide Registration has suspended the company’s licence for 6 months and spokesman Napadol Arwutthakamprecha has warned worse may be to come.

 

“The tour company registration licence will be suspended for 6 months starting from Tuesday February 7. In addition, a tour operator must not do anything that damages the tourism industry, tourism places, and tourists or they could be fined up to 500,000 baht. It is being considered with this tour company for how much they could be fined in this case.”

If he confessed, probably got an 8 yr sentence as seems to be the standard for murder, no matter how gruesome.   That's what the Nazi got in Udon Thani for stabbing his GF 17 times in front of her daughter.

 

EDIT; he received a 10 sentence, and curious if the is 'the' sentence, or was it cut in half for confessing.   As the Nazi @ UT got 16, halved for confessing.

As soon as Chinese started coming, the scam tour operators are at it again scamming tourists. It simple solutions will be to refund the money or rebook them, if they want, for another day. Severe punishments should be imposed on these scammers.

That's fine.  These Chinese and their friends and acquaintances and the millions that will read all about it on WeChat (with names named!) will stick to zero-dollar tours in the future, unless they bypass Thailand altogether.
