It's a good think Cobra Gold is not on during Loy Krathong

A small, globe-trotting balloon declared “missing in action” by an Illinois-based hobbyist club on Feb. 15 has emerged as a candidate to explain one of the three mystery objects shot down by four heat-seeking missiles launched by U.S. Air Force fighters since Feb.

No, they didn't. They held their own but thousands of their lives were lost.

They are back in the Philippines now. Why do they want to increase their presence in Thailand.

Let the Chinese have it. The leaders are just sucking up for a few dollars it brings in.

Put Thailand on the US black list. Stop all SS payments there. Move all manufacturing out of Thailand.

Let the Baht run with the Yuan.  Stop all currency transfers into Thailand .

Are you ok?

The mighty USA only get involved when they have interests in the country.

Yes! And most of the time their interest is in helping the oppressed and abused people from the abusing regimes that rule in their own interests and not those of the people.

Yeah, educate yourself on spelling things!  :giggle:

Afghanis managed to milk the USA for $$$ billions of aid over 20 years and, on top of that, came away with $$$ billions worth of USA military equipment after the Americans finally gave up and scurried away.

The Americans ran - did not walk - out of Vietnam after having their a*sses handed to them despite their many years of committing atrocities - in the name of "American Exceptionalism".  :whistling:

And now the USA cannot even defend its own border with Mexico.  :cheesy:

"came away with $$$ billions worth of USA military equipment"... no they didn't. All the equipment was disabled or destroyed before they left. Don't believe a lot of the nonsense you read.

"The Americans ran - did not walk - out of Vietnam"... no, actually they flew out. Too far to walk home.

"now the USA cannot even defend its own border with Mexico".... actually they can, and do, when Republicans are in charge. When the weak socialist Democrats are running things, they leave the borders like a revolving door and don't care.

Since they are too inept to protect their own country from China and others, do what all other countries do.... rely on the US.

Thailand-bashing alert...

Why would Thailand specifically need protection from China? The whole world needs protection from China, hence the benefits of strong military alliances.

Your comment is absurd. It takes more than military expertise to fight a war. It cost mountains of money and huge production capacity. NATO is already running low on stocks of just about everything, just helping Ukraine.

Also, which countries, besides the US are not "inept" and able to sustain a war with China on their own?

It's a bit late in the day to refortify the Philippines now, after, on Obama's watch, the Chinese have built fortified military bases on 7 islands right on the Philippines' doorstep. Now it's a huge problem.

"do what all other countries do.... rely on the US".... you can read the comment but not understand it's meaning. ALL countries need protection, or will, from China. They are on a mission to rule the world beginning with claiming the South China Sea and everything else in the area as their own private property. That's part of the reason Philippines is inviting the US to reopen their bases in the country that they had for so long. The US could tell them to deal with it themselves but the US is better than that.

"which countries, besides the US are not "inept" and able to sustain a war with China on their own?"... there are none. Thus my point.

My reply was specifically addressing the comment you made about Thailand being "inept", but you're obviously trying to backtrack from it.

Perhaps you should understand the meaning of the words you are using so there is no confusion about what you really mean.

"Inept": Having or showing no skill, Clumsy.

You're suggesting that due to incompetence, Thailand cannot defend itself from China (if that would be necessary).

Which countries fear China, they have improved infrastructure

building roads and railroads, lent money at the lowest rate ever.

What does US do, over 100 wars since WW2 over 30 regime changes,

and plundered assets.

The Pentagon has estimated there is a window of opportunity untill

2025 of instigating a war with China before it becomes too powerful,

Taiwan to be the flashpoint.   That will be the reason for getting

boots in Thailand.

US is the Mafia Terrorist Empire of lies.

I would expect China to outsmart the US at every move, as the

Russians have done in Ukraine.

That's quite possibly correct. It's been proven that the US has more oil reserves than nearly anyone. What happens when it all dries up in the Middle East and the US corners the market. OOPS!!!

And how many "strong countries" has the US challenged in the last 50-60 years? Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, Ecuador, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam (got their <deleted> kicked), Dominican Republic, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan....

Not many superpowers in that list are there?  Seems America just likes to bully the weak countries of Southeast Asia, Central America and the Middle East.

Why stop at 50 - 60 years? Let's go back 100. In WW1 the US took a big part in eliminating Nazi Germany from the face of the earth and saved most of Europe from speaking German today.

After that in WW2 the US was attacked by Japan with the same desires as China has now. To control the South Pacific. Even after their sneak (and unprovoked) attack wiped out most of the US Pacific fleet, Japan was surrendering with their tails between their legs soon afterwards and now are strong allies of the US as they learned their lesson.

How about 1963 when Russian tried to move missiles into Cuba and the US set up a blockade potentially starting WW3. THat thankfully never happened. The Russies backed down.

Need any more help with the history books?

What happens when USA runs out of oil?

The world is going electric while Americans still want to drive around in their V8 5 litre gas guzzlers.

Well, you don't just starting wars to make a point. The interesting part was that in WW1 the US and Russia teamed up to defeat the Nazi's. In WW2 China aligned with the US to help defeat Japan. My how things have changed. Things went 180 degrees in both situations now.

Again, you have to educate yourself. The US is moving forward on electric cars and the demand is robust.

I forgot one more. Reagan challenged Gorbachev to tear down the wall dividing Germany and the communists supported by Russia in the East. Shortly thereafter the wall fell at the hands of the German people. I remember seeing it on TV when they cut thru the wall and dropped it to the ground.

False.

Russia won WWII.

Hollywood aside, tbe USA's role was minimal.

(UK even more so).
