The Thai flag encapsulates everything that they are offended by.

They never asked for it, they don't want it, or anything else to do with Thailand.

They are not, nor ever have they been "Thai".

"Thaification" is something that was imposed on them:

Thaification is a byproduct of the nationalist policies mandated by the Thai state after the Siamese coup d'état of 1933. The coup leaders, said to be inspired by Western ideas of an exclusive nation state, acted more in accordance with their close German nationalist and anti-democratic counterparts (pre-Nazi) to effect kingdom-wide dominance by the central Thai culture. Minority-owned businesses, like the traditionally merchant Thai Chinese, were aggressively acquired by the state, which gave preferential contracts to ethnic Central Thais and cooperative ethnic Chinese.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaification

They are, to Thailand, as the people of the Republic of Ireland used to be  to the British Empire.

They have wanted the Siamese/"Thai" out ever since Siam and the British Empire carved up their homeland between themselves.

100% agree with your post. furthermore, you can add Northeast Issan and Buri Ram, Si Sa Ket, and Surin to that list as well.

While these regions I mentioned are considered Thai citizens, the majority are Lao descent and speak Lao/Issan language at home and to each other.  Same thing goes for the Khmer descent in the southeast part of Issan near the Cambodia border. Thailand has attempted in the last 7 decades to assimilate the people in those regions to think and believe they are Thai, but in reality, it hasn't worked so well.

'Buddhist monk, accompanied by a group of soldiers, has triggered uproar in the Muslim community'

As usual offended by everything, even a monk talking about the Thai flag. Difficult community to live with when they demand everything their way.

If the visit was forced upon the school, then there is indeed cause for concern.

It is one thing to invite outside speakers into a school, quite another to be told this is happening.

Forced assimilation rarely does.

If as you claim they are offended the flag and Thailand they are free to leave the country, they are Thai- they all have Id cards to prove it.

Diversity is a strength when it is collaborative process.

Authoritarianism and forced assimilation at the point of a gun is not.

The people you say should move to another country are already living in their country. Forceable annexation is somewhat more complex than a border change.

These trouble makers, permanently offended and jihadist murderers for a lost pointless cause will always have a minority of supporters and apologists ????

So, why does a Buddhist monk lecture about patriotism and the national flag? Sadly, knowing Thailand's policy of "uniting" the people (China style), I can understand the uproar...

What difference does it make who does it? Well in this case none as these brainwashed kids just hate everything not Islamic

....and these somewhat modern nationalist ideals have been embedded ever since. Instigated by Pridi, Phibun and their militarist mob.

Though, one could easily argue that this Thaification was well in place by the turn of last century.

Semantics.

That would be Khmer [Surin/Sisaket/Buriram], less Lao.

You might want to get your social geopolitics correct before you go off speaking of things you're not knowledgeable about.

Perhaps reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Read my post again.

Why is a Buddhist preaching nationalism, it runs counter to Buddhist philosophy. Secondly I suggest you do some research on the deep South conflict before posting again. The link below will assist with your education.

Don't need any education (propaganda) on it thanks. Islamic jihad, or random murder is evil and will get them nowhere even though they follow a man who is quoted in the Hadith of Bukhari stating that - 'I was victorious with terror'. After 20 odd years and over 6k deaths they have achieved only mindless death. They need to give up.
