Daily News Thai Caption: Gang trading in monkeys

Daily News reported on the busting of a gang catching and selling Thai monkeys abroad to be "lab rats" in medical research and for "energy" food.

Some were believed to be worth as much as 100,000 baht each.

The case happened in Nakhon Sawan at a tourist area called Khao Nor where Nan, 55, sells monkey treats.

He had heard a commotion and went to investigate and found three men who had tranquilized 9 monkeys with darts.

On seeing him the criminals fled - two were subsequently captured by police and had seven darts with them and food for monkeys. A third escaped.

"energy" food

I'm going to ignore the lab theory and go with the 'energy food' angle - usual suspects.

Ooohhhhhhhhh
They ware selling Monkeys for medical research.
Reading the title, I thought that they were selling THAI PEOPLE for medical research.
I was astonished to read that anybody would be ready to pay 100,000 baht for a Thai national.
You can get them much cheaper nowadays with the right connections.
