Recent trip up north?

Featured Replies

Anyone been up to CR or Chiang Khong area lately?

How's the weather with regards to haze / smoke?

Is it still nice and cool in the mornings / evenings?

Planning on a trip this coming week for a few days, maybe up to GT again.

Any input appreciated.

I'm a newcomer to CM, but the smoke seems very tolerable. Yesterday it wasn't even noticeable. Some mornings you def want a jacket. Where is GT?

Cool - thanks

GT - Golden Triangle, very cool place to visit.

There's an ethnic Chinese village up that way that has a good Sat Night walking street with old timers playing their hill tribe music. Mark Weins has a video about it.

Reddit Chiang Mai says Pai is very smokey today, whereas here it's perfect.

Recently been CM seems OK.

Was riding much of Nan recently which is great good roads too mostly.

Off to Phayao next week come what ever.

In CR this morning the clearest air we have had for a while after a good nights rain my AQI reads 78 which is far better and blue sky instead of grey. But the morning and definitely long sleeved shirt and  jacket weather. Temp. currently at 1pm is 23

Phayao is excellent, few nice places for a few beers down on the lake.

Yeah thanks its what I've been told by VocalNeil.

While there getting my fork seals changed and check out the cam shims by a Thai guy who knows what his doing.

All data you seek is available on official inter-web sites.

most of February the AQI was hitting 200-400 every morning, it has relaxed some today's average level about 150.

"Excellent, sounds good."

CM - This morning I could see green on View Doi but right now only the shape is visible.

PM2.5 = 56 to 62 = 152 - 154 AQI = Red (Unhealthy).

The smoke haze has disappeared after rain last week. I hope it stays like that for your visit.

The smoke haze is back along with AQI Red Zone "Unhealthy" readings.

I concur with JimmyJ a day or so after the nice rain our crappy air is back above 150 at the moment so a N95 mask would be a smart idea. It's also warming up mornings are still cool but for least time and then back in to 30 country. but can be still very enjoyable. But views are quite impeded.

I live North of CM city and yes it was very smoky. You want to be wearing a mask when you ride not for covid but for the smoke as it plays hell on your lungs and eyes.
