BANGKOK, Feb 21 (TNA) – Five excise officers, allegedly extorting 5,500 baht from a grocer owner acknowledged charges at the Bangkhen police station last night.

"They face charges including demanding bribe, malfeasance, detaining a person, invading a property and having a weapon in possession or colluding with more than two persons to commit an offence. They denied all charges and were released on bail."

What did they say when they acknowledged the charges, it all a misunderstanding?

'Thai Rak Thais' and all that, and - so called respect for the older people.

Everything we are told about Thais is a lie, which two-week tourists go away believing. Those who live here know it is very, very different, which is possibly why those in authority don't like us being here, because we talk about it. Close families is one example, where we read daily of murders within. Thais are gentle, smiling people, while over and over again we read of Thais attacking Thais like a pack of rabid dogs. Rampant corruption (Thais cheating Thais) at every possibly level, from top government officials through the police and local officials all the way down to motorcycle taxi drivers. Thais are no better than other nationalities, and in some cases a great deal worse.
