‘They started the war’: Russia’s Putin blames West and Ukraine for provoking conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday used a highly anticipated speech to deny responsibility for the war in Ukraine and lash out at his adversaries.

His comments come despite repeated rejections of Putin’s narrative surrounding the war by Western nations and Ukraine.

Feb. 24 will mark one year since Russia mounted a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, beginning a ground war in Europe that Putin still refers to as a “special military operation.”

To quote a famous UK lady at the time, Mandy Rice-Davies, talking in court about an alleged affair with Lord Astor,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandy_Rice-Davies

quote "When James Burge, the defence counsel, pointed out that Lord Astor denied an affair or even having met her, she dismissed this, giggling "Well he would, wouldn't he?"[9] (often misquoted "Well he would say that, wouldn't he?"

Which is what Putin has denied all along.

"Well he would say that, wouldn't he?"

He should be locked up in a mental health facility instead of running (and ruining) a country.

Well he won't last forever and there's a good chance that whoever replaces him is even worse. It's not as if Putin goes and Russians dance in the street and instantly become the Netherlands.

I wonder if the US concentrated more on improving it's own democracy(transparency, less fake news, more secure elections with forensic audits possible to check concerning events like water leaks causing counts to shut etc etc), and interfered less in the politics of sovereign nations halfway around the world, we would all be safer?

Talking about fake news

Ukraine war: President Putin speech fact-checked

President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russian public in a national address which lasted for almost two hours.

In the speech, he made a series of claims about the war in Ukraine and was highly critical of Western countries.

We've looked into some of his statements.

Why not to show his speech in full as it is by The Telegraph on:

(the auto-generated subtitles in any language can be set in settings)

Then, everybody has the chance to fact-check by himself (aren't we big boys - and girls?)...

That's rich! Fake news? Such as Fox News propagating the Big Lie, while being fully aware it was B.S.?

Had it on when it was broadcast live with English translator, no need to watch it again. The fact checks carried out are all on target. Not sure about your last remark about being a big boy or girl is that relevant.........lol
