Sanook Thai Caption: Lights out on Krabi runway

Sanook reported that many flights to and from Krabi International airport in the south of Thailand were affected after a fire caused by an electrical problem caused the emergency closure of the runway.

Six airlines had to delay flights around 9 pm last night. It also affected an incoming flight from Russia due to land at 1 am this morning.

The media reported that by 10pm the matter had still not been resolved.

One flight from Suvarnabhumi returned to the Bangkok airport.

The Russian flight (believed to be Alaska Airlines) also had to land at an alternative airport.
