Thai Rath and other Thai media were reporting yet another school kindergarten shooting in the north eastern province of Nong Bua Lamphu.

Last year dozens were killed, mostly children, at a kindergarten and elsewhere before the assailant took his own life. It shocked Thailand and the world.

This time a jealous Thai man has shot a school administrator on her first day back after a long break for personal reasons.

Wanphen, variously said to be 25 or 26, was fighting for her life in Udon Thani hospital after being transferred from Nong Bua Lamphu hospital.

She underwent surgery after being shot three times in the chest and abdomen near the school gate by a man who arrived on a motorcycle in a full face helmet, according to a witness.

He fled the scene. Police said they knew the identity of the assailant who is a 30 year old man.

A school offical said that Wanphen had worked at the private school until two years ago when she took time off.

Yesterday was her first day back.

The attack happened just after midday at the school on the ringroad in Muang district in Nong Phai Soon sub-district.

Patcharin, a painter doing refurbishing work, said that he heard 4 shots and saw the assailant lowering his gun.

He was not sure of the direction he fled. He alerted teachers who called police and rescue.

Pol Col Kiatphoom Suwannakhrai said they klnew the identity of the shooter and expected an arrest imminently.

Wanphen had recently split up with him and it was a case of jealousy.

trust he puts up a good fight and get wasted in the process - saves a lot of time and effort as he's certainly not worth it.

Lao whiskey I bet and jealousy not a good combination

Chop his bits off, then he won't feel so tough.

Of course this has never happened in every country outside of Thailand every week.

Of course it does, but this fora is about Thailand, or that's what I was lead to believe.
