folliculitis treatments?

Recommended Posts

Diagnosed as such at hospital last week, had it for 6 months. In that time tried medicated shampoo, betnovate, fungal creams, herbal rubbish the mrs got off facebook and anti biotics. Dr prescribed same shampoo, different anti biotics and a anti biotic cream, as well as a couple of other things not really needed like anti histamine for itch.

None of this has had much effect at all, Dr said bacterial cause but the meds for that did nothing. Any suggestions for anything else to try, scalp not too bad, Dr said mild/moderate but sore bumps and falling hair I could do without.

I would add to this need to check thyroid panel.

And if glucose and thyroud are OK I eollwould suggest a second opinion as you may have been misfugnosed.

There are autoimmune conditions that can cause this and they will not respond to antibiotics or antifungals.

Where in Thailand are you?

I suggest you go to one of these dermatologists for a second opinion:

https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/Niyom-Tantikun

DR.PARICHART CHALIDAPONGSE  at St Louis   https://www.saintlouis.or.th/en/FindDoctor

Or, for lowest cost but also longer waits and less English speaking, go to the government derm hospital   https://www.iod.go.th/en/

Tried calling the IOD near Victory Monument today, decent website but the phone is never answered just rings off after a few seconds. Also, their email is no longer contactable. Not very impressive, might just turn up. Been to St Louis before and did not thing much to it, but might give it a go thanks.

It never works calling or emailing s government hospiral. You have to just go and as early in the morning as possible. Recommend having a Thai speaker with you as it will be crowded snd confusing.

iod has an application to book online.

it didn't work for me, but you can try on your device.

At least you register your details with them (thai citizen number, the one they put on covid vax certificates), might speed up registration on desk

I was thinking of that but don't hold out much hope, worth a try
