Anti-corruption officials probe training course related to a senior health official

Officials from the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and anti-corruption police raided four locations, including the house of the deputy health chief of Nakhon Ratchasima, to search for evidence of alleged corruption.

 

It is alleged that, in 2018 and 2019, Sunti Tuaymeerit, the provincial deputy health chief, sought a 4-million baht budget from the provincial administration to organise disease control training courses in 32 districts.

 

Informed sources said that the budget was approved and covered rental fees for the premises in which to hold the training course, food, allowances for the trainers and other expenses, adding that there were lists of names of the participants in the training course in each of the 32 districts. The budget for each district ranged from 120,000-150,000 baht.

So we're the courses and rosters faked and the money pocketed....no way not on Thailand.  Must have been in attendance via zoom and wearing IR Goggles to be immersed in the full aspect of the courses....

Thats what I’m wondering... 

 

Because holding a ‘training course’ by renting a hotel ball room / convention style, putting on food, providing rooms etc....   is going to cost and the 120,000 baht for a few days of this doesn’t seem excessive. 

 

However, if all this was simply a fabrication... then...

That's the way I look at it as well. Looks good on paper but then did it ever occur, as we like to say, pictures or proof or it never happened.

It was also discovered, however, that no training courses were actually held and that the names of some of the participants belong to people who are deceased, but the money was spent anyway.

With all of these investigations/suspensions etc none of them ever seem to finish... they just seem to hit the news and then just disappear and nothing ever happens. A few months quiet time in an inactive post, shifted to a new province and its all done and dusted. There hardly ever seems to be cases which get completed and any type of punishment meted out. Of course this is because those 'investigating' are for the most part as bent as the ones they are investigating.

Lots of classrooms in Thai schools have students on roll who never attend lessons yet are credited with pass-marks at the end of the course.

But....but....but there's an official Anti-Corruption Commission that looks into these things and takes a very dim view of all things corruption, isn't there? ????????

"Anti-corruption officials" making it sound like such a big deal while corruption in reality is let be anywhere in Thailand.
