Multiple Entry Tourist visa

Featured Replies

I’m currently on a multiple entry tourist visa. I will be going to Laos via the Nong khai land border.

I already have the visa to renter as I’m on a multiple entry tourist visa.

My question is will I need to spend 1 night overnight in Laos or can I just simply cross into Laos pay for the Laos visa and come back straight across the border into Thailand again on the same day?

Thanks

Hey guys, joining the conversation as I've the same situation as OP.

Is there any agency in Udon Thani that can assist you in this?

Pretty sure you can go across a bridge and turn around and come back without needing an agency.

I see, but in terms of documentation and such, do I need anything other than my METV paper?

What about the Laos visa, do I have to do it on arrival?

You don't need any documentation for re-entering Thailand besides your passport and visa. At a land border, you'll still need to fill in the "arrival card" form of old, that's it.

For entering Laos, you have the choice between buying an eVisa beforehand and buying a visa on arrival ar the point of entry.

Turn up at the Friendship Bridge at Nong Khai with a print out of your METV, plus US$40 in clean notes for a Laos visa on arrival. It takes a little bit of time, but the process is extremely simple.

Too bad Thailand wouldn't change the METV and get rid of the border runs. They had a good idea going during the covid period years with the special tourist visa ... good for 90 days, then another 90 days by way of extension at the local immigration office. That would be a huge improvement for us snowbirds from northern countries trying to escape winter for 5 to 6 months then returning to our home countries each year. I for one am sick and tired of putting my life on the line spending 6 to 7 hours in those commuter vans to do a border bounce to Cambodia and back twice each winter.

Don't understand your post.

Both options available.

The choice up to the individual.

Prior to METV you could buy a triple entry tourist visa.

Only difference is METV was required to be applied for in own country.

The triple entry could be obtained in consulates eg Saigon.

Border visa exempt entries and hence allowing for border runs (2 per calendar year) is a godsend for many.

So what's your compliant?

Thailand offers too many options for tourists?

Read my post again and maybe you will understand. My complaint is having to risk one's life spending 6 to 7 hours in a van on Thailand's hwy's while doing a border run. That should be simple enough for the average person who has ever done one to understand.

Sounds just another post self entitled person.

My point was that you are very lucky to have the options that Thailand provides.

Example visa exempt entry.

Just chose a nearby country such as Vietnam.

Being Canadian you would require a Visa.

Currently only visa would be a single entry 30 day tourist visa.

Spare me sob story about border runs in a mini van.

I'll be happy to spare you any further sob stories when you get a real life that goes beyond criticising other people's posts.

Read my first post and that answered question in your OP.

Later in thread you rant about options to be a tourist in Thailand.

I pointed out that Thailand has several options that some nearby countries do not.

You have a METV for Thailand.

Many nearby countries do not provide that option..

If minivans are the issue fly out and back from Thailand.

Simple option.

Or fly to Udon Thani and take short drive to NK .

You can also obtain a 30 day extension to your 60 day stamp from METV entries.

One per entry.

Too many options.
