Bungee jump given clean bill of health after Hong Kong tourist "damaged Thai tourism" by going to foreign media

I want to do a bungee jump but never in Thailand, and no extreme sports when it's people here you are relying on, too irresponsible and careless.

I am in total shock that a tourist from Hong Kong went to the media and complained about his accident on the Bungee jump bringing damage to tourism in Pattaya ????

Agree with others here that makes  it all okay !  Nothing to ???? here???? ! unsure did they pay all ot part of his medical costs & rtn of money paid for an Amazing Thailand bungee jump + declared safe ???? ????no issues ???? read prior his insurance in HK Paid out for medical costs ?

Having read 3 different articles in maybe 2-3 days about this, what stuck in my mind was the length of the cord snapping, it went from halfway to 5m above and now to 2-3m...

Can't wait for the next report: 30cm...

Now how in the world did they decide that? What kind of inspection of a failed bungee strap shows that it failed because of "wear that was not to be ascertained with the naked eye"? And if they were actually correct, then the proper course of action would be to take measures to insure that bungee straps are replaced every so often, whether or not they showed signs of visible damage.

Nice to know that everything is safe, when you cannot see it's worn out – I presume that's why components in an airplane needs to be replaced due to age and not due to visual wear-out – perhaps a bungy jump wire should be replaced by same parameter...

You can do a search of the internet and find many rules and regulations on inspection of the bungee cords.

 

However, I could not find one for Thailand.

A bungee rope breaking is not a 'little thing'. And if the company had compensated more than just medical expenses and a refund of the fee, they would have avoided the exposure. You might jump off the platform without a 'girly rope', but I and many others sure as hell wouldn't.
