Road tax not paid for four years

No experience.

Official rule as you know: after 3 years the vehicle registration is void.

Have to do new registration.
But try your luck. Maybe you come through with just paying the four years?

Yeah go to transport dept and pay it..

You will have to pay the 4 years plus a small fine.

If vehicle is 7yrs  or older you will need an inpspection first.... and don't forget your Por Ror Bor.

Tnx I will get the inspection first.

So no insurance for that period of time?

Never been stopped at a road check?

I was out of Thailand due to covid. Wouldn't make it far without the tag in the window.

What are you on about? Claim from whom?

Or do you mean 'Taxed'. In which case you drive around with no road tax or tested?

No, an hour ago you said 'I am pretty sure i've made a claim while vehicle not insured'.

I do not understand from who you claimed if you are not insured.

I think you meant TAXED, but who am I to know what you are on about.

The topic is about not paying TAX.

You suggest without TAX your insurance is not valid ( illegal as you put it ).

I said i've made an insurance claim without TAX.

I really can't make it any clearer than this, if you cannot understand then there's little hope for you.

It's not that easy because after 3 years the registration is supposed to be cancelled and you'll have to get the vehicle registered again. I am not sure if they actually are strict about this and even then it could as usual depend on the specific DLT.

Unfortunately you won't.  The license plate has been canceled, so the inspection place, which also do the tax sticker,  can't find it in the system and will turn you away.

There is no way around it. Only the owner, as per the blue book can register the car again and have a new license plate issued.

A friend of mine also had a Covid car in Thailand.

you - I am pretty sure that it would be deemed invalid if the vehicle is 'illegal'

me - I am pretty sure i've made a claim while vehicle not insured

I'll try one more time - insurance is STILL valid without TAX, as you claim - do you get it yet - lol.

The inspection does not check if the car is registered. They are not making the tax sticker. They do the inspection. The process goes like this:

1. Vehicle is brought to the inspection place. This can be either at the DLT or in one of the smaller shops.

2. DLT issues a new tax sticker under the condition of seeing the paper from the inspection place plus the green or blue book. If one of the small shops did the inspection then they usually bring the book and their certificate to the DLT to obtain the tax sticker.

You said "while vehicle not insured". Which obviously makes no sense and is what everyone has been trying to point out to you. You probably ment to say "while vehicle not taxed".

Plus a Por ra Bor insurance certificate.

The DLT itself does not issue insurance certificates. That's done by third party insurance companies - which might be working on the premises of the DLT though.

Of course I know that, but you must have one from the 3rd party company before the DLT will issue the tax sticker

PJ71, you did make 2 (two) statements:

PJ71: "I am pretty sure i've made a claim while vehicle not insured"

AND

PJ71: "II said i've made an insurance claim without TAX. I really can't make it any clearer than this,

How can you make a claim if your vehicle is not insured??? I am curious...

You’re making no sense & digging a hole with your first comment.

What insurance pays out for a claim when you have no insurance with them? [I’ve made a claim while vehicle is not insured].

Partially correct on the other point - some insurances may pay out for an untaxed vehicle, or they may argue the vehicle was on the road illegally.

Experiences may vary.
