Customs arrests passenger smuggling cocaine worth 14.4M baht at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thai Customs officials at Suvarnabhumi Airport conducted a successful operation on April 6th, 2023 at 1:50 pm under the AITF (Airport Interdiction Task Force), which includes officers from the Narcotics Control Board, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, the National Security Center, and the Immigration Bureau. 

 

The operation was aimed at identifying the risk of smuggling drugs out of the country and resulted in the arrest of a male passenger traveling from Sao Paulo, Brazil, passing through Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and heading to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The inspection discovered that the passenger's luggage had a strange shape, and after opening it, four black plastic bags covered with black carbon paper were found. The bags contained cocaine, weighing a total of 1.2 kilograms, with a market value of 14.4 million baht, reported Siam Rath.

Pol. Lt. Col. Phan Thong Loikulnart, Deputy Director-General of the Customs Department, who is currently serving as an adviser on development and tax administration, disclosed that the passenger was suspected of carrying illegal substances and was thoroughly inspected, including an X-ray scan of his luggage.

 

Upon inspection, the officials found the passenger's luggage had a suspicious shape, and upon opening it, they discovered four black plastic bags covered with black carbon paper.

The suspect was immediately apprehended by the Customs Department and subsequently transferred to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further legal proceedings. 

 

The success of this operation highlights the efforts and diligence of the Thai Customs Department in its ongoing fight against drug trafficking, ensuring the safety and well-being of the country's citizens.

I would think 1.2 kg is worth much less than 14.4 mbht. Making up numbers as they go.

So many fools in this world. He could have gotten a job and tried to make something out of himself but instead decides to be lazy and try to make a living hauling drugs around the world. Now that he'll be in prison for many years, the only guarantee he has is that "bubba" will be visiting him every night for his daily "bend over" session. I'm quite astounded that some still play around with these types of dangerous [for them] activities. 

Wondering the intelligence levels of these individuals and their cohorts.
