Anutin and BJT: We can deliver; promises help for tourism - but no mention of "filthy northern air"

Siam Rath reported that Thailand's health minister under the previous government and Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul was on the campaign trail with senior party chiefs and candidates vying for votes in the Mae Lao district of Chiang Rai, northern Thailand.

 

Speaking at Mae Lao Circuit he recognized the province was one that needed help for its tourism.

 

He pledged help for all tourism areas if the BJT is elected stressing the need for sustainable tourism garnering repeat visitors.

 

The media said that Anutin and his entourage were greeted kindly by the northern residents.

 

Anutin promised to raise living standards and encourage people to make more money.

He promised improved health care especially in terms of provision for kidney dialysis, something that the area had already benefitted from in the form of a mobile dialysis unit.

 

He also said that more equipment for cancer patients would be provided.

 

"Just vote us in - Number 7 - and all is yours" was the unsurprising set of promises from one of Thailand's most well known politicians.

People would be able to "yoo dee gin dee" literally "live well eat well" - the Thai expression for a better standard of living.

 

But no mention was made in this report of a major concern in much of Thailand and especially the north.

 

The filthy air experienced there in recent weeks and months that has seen residents spluttering was not on the agenda in this report that was more like a campaign leaflet for BJT.

But was Mr Anutin not the one who did not liked the tourists and foreigners? Was he not the one that blamed them for bringing the virus into the country? And now he switched 180 degrees and tells he will help tourism?? Indeed he can help tourism by sdisappearing as soon as possible from the political stage

How about real concerns for the more important sectors of the economy, in which tourism isn't one of 'em. 

Do wish we'd get away from this fantasy that tourism and associated is that vital.

Good to see the Thai media maintain the rage on the air quality. 

The lot of them (ASEAN) need to wake up, quit their useless annual gabfests, and other useless and pointless national self-aggrandizement and buy some freaking modern farm equipment.

No need...  The farms around me do not burn their stalks, stubble (stems), leaves or seed pods.  They flood the fields and then use a paddle and sled type machine to turn everything into the earth. Sometime during all that process they plant more seeds.  4-5 months later they're harvesting another rice crop.

 

I'm sure a new method could be implemented cheaply for the cane fields, but there has to be a reason for them to change. (severe penalties for not changing)

I truly hope that this muppet Anutin is consigned to political history at the up-coming election, as he has had a very toxic effect on Thai society.
