Hello all, I entered Thailand on 7 December 2022 on the 45 day visa, followed by a 30 day extension. At the end of that, I flew to Vientiane and back in one day and repeated the above. Got my extension last week at CW. My question is, will I be ok to fly out and back again when this current extension runs out? Or is 3 back-to-back entries not allowed and I should apply for an SETV somewhere before trying to re-enter? I’m also aware that the 45 day entry is now back down to 30.

Personally, suggest that you obtain a tourist visa .

Vientiane would be good option. 

Note that an appointment is required.

Same applies to Saigon. 

 

Note you are also able to do two land border visa exempt entries per calendar year.

I'm not being pedantic, it's a very important distinguishment in the context of your question.

 

For visa exempt there's a limit of 2 by land per calendar year. There's no hard limit by air, but IOs can get picky if they don't like your entry history; it's always a gamble going in visa exempt if you've had more than a couple in a row.

 

For entering with a visa, obtained either at a consulate or online if applicable to your country, there is no limit. It can start to get difficult obtaining said visas after a while, though.

As mentioned, a tourist visa from Vientiane (or, Savannakhet, if you cannot get an appointment at Vientiane) would be prudent. If you for any reason were refused the visa (very unlikely unless you have several previous Thai tourist visas) you should enter Thailand by land. The visa exempt entry by land, while subject to the limit of two per calendar year, is otherwise very safe. Trying to enter visa exempt by air after six months on visa exemptions, especially at Suvarnabhumi or Don Muang, could possibly result in a denied entry.
