Tourist visa refusal

Featured Replies

Hi, I’m a  uk citizen . Applied for a 60 day tourist visa on April 1st entering Thailand 12 April. I was asked for an extra document which I emailed to the Thai embassy in London on April 5. At 16:59 today uk time I received an email from the embassy saying my application has been rejected as I need to be in the uk when I apply . I am in the UK and have been since I applied !!!!

My flight leaves before the embassy reopens at 9am so I’m going to have to enter visa free but does anyone know if I can appeal against this once I get to Thailand or am I just going to have to suck it up even though it’s their mistake ?

Thanks

You can't do anything once out the country....apply again etc or get any apology....fruitless pursuit.

They screwed up...you got 2 visa-exempts anyway this year by land I'd assume for a start.

Bye-bye to visa application fee on SETV....

So their turnaround is 11 days based on your application date...quite long...mine was issued in a few days if I remember, and that was METV.

Maybe they are a bit swamped and you got mixed up with another applicant...who knows...just move forward and juggle a 30-day extension and 1 out-in visa run after 60 days...best you can do to get 90.

This kind of mistake by the embassy without consequences (for them) is quite disgraceful. Sad to say, once they do not need to face disgruntled victims face to face, they can do what they like (and seemingly do).

I'd say suck it up, but in the UK unlike here you could take them to the small claims court.

Get a letter off to them before you leave so it is postmarked in the UK.  Explain their mistake and tell them they can apply the fee to the next application.  They won't of course but at least you let them know they screwed the pooch.

Compared to what my (Thai) wife has to endure to obtain a visa to visit the UK this is nothing.

Strange.  My wife's applications all went very smoothly the last of which resulted in a 5 year visa allowing 6 month stays.  Don't recall her having to endure anything.

What did you supply in answer to the question of proof of residency in uk .Maybe you didn’t give the right answer.I used my council tax bill

Why would you email a missing or additional document when applying for an e-visa? Did you mean you uploaded it? Are you sure you sent the correct document they requested?

I charged back the tourist visa fee on my credit card and they didn't dispute it. ????

Interesting. At least allows you to recoup the application fee.
