Daily News Thai Caption: Area sealed off due to madman

Daily News reported on an incident in which a drugged up man shot a second hand goods dealer who happened to be passing by in Chaiyaphum, NE Thailand yesterday.

Non Mao police were called after reports of a man high on yaba and marijuana in Nang Daet sub-district.

Dead at the scene was Wirasak, 49, a neighbor, from a single gunshot wound to the left side of the chest.

Initial information suggested that Wirasak was collecting old items and encountered Subin, 30, who was brandishing a handgun and a rifle.

The assailant ran off as villagers cowered in fear.

The area was sealed off by a special team of ten police.

The shooter's mother and elder brother were brought in to get him to give himself up.

He did so after five hours and was saying that someone had come to kill him. He was in a confused state.

A .22 rifle, a handgun, a bong and equipment for taking yaba were taken into evidence.

He was charged with murder and weapons offences.

The victim's wife was in tears at the scene wondering what the future would hold after losing the breadwinner of the family. She said they had no beef with the shooter.

The shooter's family knew well that he was addicted to drugs but didn't know where to turn.

It amazes me that this would appear to be her main concern so soon after her husband's death.

I bet they also knew he had guns and again had no idea where to turn.

What else should be her main concern, when is she next going to get pounded on the sofa?
